Newbee question for Blu Ray Burner LG WH10LS30K + Other Questions
Hello,

I have dived into the world of PCH.. I just purchased a c-200 unit from Amazon.com. I have done a lot of reading but could not find an answer to some of my questions below.

1) Does the C-200 support the following blu ray burner LG WH10LS30K? I did not see it on the compatibility list. I got a good deal on newegg.com for $100.00 so I purchased.

2) I will using the method of a U-Clamp to have a 1TB 3.5" HD + this burner, should I look out for any pitfalls. I got the U-Clamp off of ebay for $3.00? Anything I should look out for? I looked at the You-Tube Video and it looks simple enough.

3) I would like to install all my tools/apps NMT, CSI as well as play BD Movies on 4GB USB stick. I will using a Sony Micro Vault Tiny on the internal USB connector. Should I anticipate any issue; and if someone can point me in the direct of what app/tools I should install?

4) I mainly watch movies loaded onto my 4TB ReadyNAS. It will be hard wired from a router to my C-200. Should I anticipate any issue?

5) I think this question has been asked but I did not get a clear answer. I would like to hook up my C-200 to the TV as well as my Pioneer HDMI receiver. Somtimes I want to use my receiver with full sound/video via HDMI; however sometimes I would just like to use the TV and C-200 thru component. Basically I am asking will C-200 output to two source independently?

6) Is Amazon and authorized seller and will I still get my 1 year warranty?

7) One other question besides my ReadyNAS I also use PMS (PS3 Media Server) on my Windows 7 PC to steam movies to my PS3. I assume C-200 will be compatible with PS3 Media Server.

I have been using a PS3 to do this mainly but the PS3 is noisy and a power hog. I also hated to convert all my MKV's to MPG and wanted DTS support. I also considered a Oppo Digital BDP-83 before purchasing the C-200, but decided to go with C-200 because of codec support.

Hope I made the right choices.

Thanks in advance for any input from the expert panel.

BTW for people wondering why I purchased on Amazon instead of directly from PCH. It is because with Shipping and Tax it was costing about $60.00 more.

RE: Newbee question for Blu Ray Burner LG WH10LS30K + Other Questions
Welcome to the forum.Smile

I'll answer a few briefly to get things going.

1. Yes the burner will work but it will only play discs you cannot burn on the C200.
2. If you look at the WIKI C200 Modding page you'll see the forum members name who has installed the U-clamp. Plus there is mention in the forum threads. PM them as im sure they will be pleased to relay their experiences.
3. Should be fine, remember to remove any U3 or propriatory software. Personally 8Gb would be better as you do intend to use the CSI and there are things like jukebox output to consider and there will be a time when you wish you had some space to load/play a file. The Verbatim 8Gb min one I use is virtually invisible once inserted.
4. Should be fine.
5. Yes but not simultaneously.
6. Amazon are fine, you'll have to return to them if you encouter and issues. You always have the PCH 1 yr warranty but when buying from a reseller you deal with them rather than PCH.
7. Not sure but remember that the PS3 server transcodes to allow some files to play on the PS3, you do not need those options setting for C200 playback.

A400: SSD+SD Card(Apps), HDMI A300: USB(Apps), HDMI C200: USB(Apps), BD SH-B083L(SB01), HDMI
CAT6 Wired Network: TV TX-P42G20, HP ProCurve 1400-8G, Netgear GS-608/605, Synology CS407

5. Actually, I get simultaneous output on my C-200. HDMI to my TV and component to my Slingbox.
I would think that your receiver will still pass-through the HDMI to your TV when it's turned off.

Excellent, I am felling good about $400+ for the PCH. The support is great as well.

I really appreciate the feedback.

Any suggestions for Apps that I should install?

Also can I use a 16GB/32GB memory stick?

RE: Newbee question for Blu Ray Burner LG WH10LS30K + Other Questions
You should just keep the Bd burner for you PC(for BD burning capability and also ripping) and just get a less expensive BD rom player for the C200. Otherwise it's a huge waste of the burner. plus it is a fast reader. I have the older 8X LG burner in my PC. I didn't realize prices had come down so much.

A-400: Intel 330 Series SSD 60GB -> iScan DUO -> Denon 3808(audio only) -> Darblet -> Mitsubishi RP DLP
A-400: Patriot Inferno SSD 60GB -> Sony 2.1 speaker Bar -> Darblet -> LG 3D LCD
C-200: WD Caviar Blue 500GB -> iScan DUO -> Denon 3808(audio only) -> Darblet -> Mitsubishi RP DLP
56TB HP MSS WHS--32TB unRAID--29TB unRAID

I know I was contemplating the same thing. However a BD Reader is about $60 and for an extra $40 I got the burner. I know it is a waste of a burner. What I am planning to do is wait for BD reader to go to about $40 then I will swap out the drives. I already have a old LG BD burner in computer.

The other reason I choose to go this route was because I read this is a super quite drive.

Thanks for you input.

BTW if any is interested NewEgg still have the burner for $100.00 it also comes with Free 3D software, glasses and One LTH BD media.

RE: Newbee question for Blu Ray Burner LG WH10LS30K + Other Questions
First of all thank for all the help initially. I have some deeper questions.

So I finally got my C-200 going, sort off. I have a few questions.

My HW Configuration is as follows:
--One 8GB Cruzer USB drive. I have installed NMT on here. I have not installed CSI.
--One 2.5" 500GB Hitachi ext3 formatted using G-Parted. completely blank.
--One LG WH10LS30K BD-R Drive (Temp until I get a reader only).

1) I want to start to transfer some files over to my HD not USB how do I access this drive from my computer? Every-time I goto to it via FTP it keeps taking me to the USB drive.

2) Major Issue: In Network Setting when I select AUTO my connection goes down, I see the link is up however I see no data. If I select 10/100 then things seem to work, however transfers are slow for obvious reasons. Did I do something wrong?

3) I installed myIHome Server on my PC and put some files in My Videos Folder, dumb question how do I access the it on the NMT? I can see my readyNAS DLNA server. I can also see my PS3 Media Player (which BTW does not work well).

4) Should I install YMAJ? What I usually do is DL stuff to my local computer and watch them on TV if it s worth while then I transfer them to my NAS.
