[S-210] Timer Setup "On at" "Off at"
Anyone know of a hack to setup the S-210 to turn on and off, so that it does not play 24/7?

Not sure what you mean by 24/7. Do you have a playlist going with certain media files, where the total time exceeds 24 hours, and you just want it to display (or disrupt operations?) during certain opening hours? Please elaborate your case!
The NMT's have crond running, and you can probably add ye olde shellscripts to achieve something. Audio, video, disco - I hear, I see, I learn. Wiki. Wiki? Wiki! |

RE: [S-210] Timer Setup "On at" "Off at"
Hi DC,
I would like the media player to auto start at 9am and turn off at 5pm. I have a play list of 20-30 slides and various clips. These play 24/7 or until someone turns the device off. I would like the player to start at a certain time and turn off at a certain time (hours of operation). I have 10+ installs and it is not practical to send someone out to turn off all the S-210s and then go out and turn them on each day. It would be great if you could take advantage of the crontab. So far I have had no luck gaining access via telnet. Do you know an easy way to enable it? -Callahan- |

I don't know this unit, and I'm sure what it'll do for warranty. Perhaps there's an official way, which I don't know about. I know others who have posted about the S-210 have gained telnet access. You could always read up on the hacks for the same gen PCH A100/A110, they might work.
So search lundman.net and ye shall find ;-) Once in, remember that most settings and files could be wiped after a reboot, so you probably need to add something like the community start_app.sh script. Hey, maybe it's possible to install telnet using the CSI too? Worth a try: nmtinstaller.com. If it works, you'll get a lot more than telnet access. Try with B110 or A110 models. These hacks rely on the FTP service to be enabled. Audio, video, disco - I hear, I see, I learn. Wiki. Wiki? Wiki! |
