Problem with several MKV files (MKV header compression in mkvmerge)
Hi everyone.
I have several MKV files that A-110 dont play. Releases : - The.Dark.Knight.2008.PROPER.1080p.BluRay.x264-CiN*FiLE - Harry.Potter.5.And.The.Order.of.the.Phoenix.2007.1 080p.HDDVD.x264-DEF*NiTE - Harry.Potter.6.And.The.Half.Blood.Prince.2009.1080 p.BluRay.DTS.x264-WiKi - Green.Zone.2010.1080p.BluRay.x264-MACHD To resolve I open the MKV in mkvmerge and just remux/re-save the file without any modification. After that works fine. This is likely due to header compression that became a default feature in the lastest editions of mkvmerge (software used to create the mkv's). http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?id=2...uage=en-us https://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?boa...uage=en-us Hope that new firmware resolve this issue. RE: Problem with several MKV files (MKV header compression in mkvmerge)
This is a known issue but those files were ripped way before the MKVmerge header compression came into play as that came in 4.1 and 4.2.
So maybe there was something else going on with your files and remuxing solved. For now 4.0 is the only good version to use. I really, really hope this gets fixed otherwise this thing is a worthless brick to me...
I realize I can remux it but if I wanted to do all that stuff I'd just jump through the hoops to stream to a 360 love the product, only had it for a year or so.. please fix!!! |

RE: Problem with several MKV files (MKV header compression in mkvmerge)
Thank you for finding out what the problem is!
I have a mkv (Prince.of.Persia.The.Sands.of.Time.720p.BluRay.x264-HUBRIS) that breaks my A-110, only a hard reset will enable the box to play any file after trying to play the first one. MediaInfo did indeed spot it's made with mkvmerge 4.2, but I had thought the rippers knew that certain settings makes the file unplayable in several players. I hope a firmware update can fix it. I the meanwhile, I'll start the remuxing...

RE: Problem with several MKV files (MKV header compression in mkvmerge)
For now that C200 has a working fix, the A200 will have the fix in a week or 2. The 100 series however may get a fix for it, im not too sure but it up to Syabas to get a fix going.
But damn that allot of MKV hardware it broke, even PS3. Well time will tell. RE: Problem with several MKV files (MKV header compression in mkvmerge)
I wondered what was causing this. Hopefully the a110 gets a firmware patch sooner rather then later. I have noticed this issue coming up more often lately. At least the remux works for now, but it is a bit of a pain.

I upgraded to the latest firmware and I'm still having issues. Is there something I need to do on the C200 to get this to work properly? |

Afterfews seconds with blask screen, Popcorn exit movie, and after that, it was unable to play any movie at all. We need a new firmware, really quickly ! |

RE: Problem with several MKV files (MKV header compression in mkvmerge)
No point in blaming the mkv developer because header-compression has been there for at least 5 years! OEMs simply did not adhere to mkv standards in full and now they're finding themselves in the problem. There is not a slightest mistake from the mkv developer. He merely turned ON the feature that was dormant for ages.
Anyway, NMT manufacturers keep telling the community that the product is future-proof because the firmware is upgradeable. In reality, we never see anything useful future-proof in their upgrades. On 100-series, Lossless tracks in MKV are still not supported and now header-compression is the new upgrade that is required. I doubt if either will be implemented by syabas on their future-proof devices. If the syabas are seriously considering this issue, then they can as well implement HD audio playback in mkv and release it. That would be welcomed by everyone. RE: Problem with several MKV files (MKV header compression in mkvmerge)
Please can we have a firmware fix for the A110?
The WDTV users have a firmware fix (announced today) to resolve this issue: http://wdc.com/wdtvliveplus_limitedpublicbetarelease/ |

RE: Problem with several MKV files (MKV header compression in mkvmerge)
I second this. A fix would be nice. I don't want to test every file I have just to find out which ones I need to remux.

See this post: http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...888&page=1 Also note that the latest 200 series firmware does allow correct playback with files muxed with MKVmerge including the latest versioin 4.3.0 I was lucky enough to get the latest for the A200 when it was posted for QA test and can verify that it will play the MKV files muxed with latest MKVMerge versions. RE: Problem with several MKV files (MKV header compression in mkvmerge)
Add me to the growing list of anxious 100 & 110 series owners waiting/wondering what Syabas is going to do about the recent (and seem to be long term) trouble with .mkv files?
C'mon Syabas, tell us if there's a firmware update coming…or not. TIA |
