Access over SMB writes in NTFS partition?
Hi everyone.
If I access my PCH over LAN, using SMB (\\popcorn\share), Can I copy a file to my internal disc if it's formated with NTFS? I know that NTFS is read-only. Is it ready-only over LAN ? I just want copy files from my notebook to my PCH. Thanks in advance. |

RE: Access over SMB writes in NTFS partition?
A100 in EXT3(formatted by A100) you can write to over SMB
PCH-A100/A210/C200/A400 500GB EXT3 HDD<-->HDMIv1.3<-->Onkyo TX-NR1010<-->HDMIv1.3<-->Panasonic TX-P46S10 13 NTFS USB drives on 3 hubs attached to the A300, 3 Seagate blackarmour NAS 3TB The inability to setup and configure the NMT should not be disguised as a defect of the box |

No. Even though your accessing the drive via SMB it is still an NTFS drive to the PCH and they are read-only unless you have NTFS-3G (a CSI app) installed. Even with NTFS-3G installed, writes are extremely slow. C-200, A-110 both playing from a DIY Linux Raid 5 server. Remuxes, Captures and Transcodes done on a desktop running; Win7, Intel i7 hexacore processor with 24 GB ram, WD VR OS drive and a WD Black 2 TB data drive. |

RE: Access over SMB writes in NTFS partition?
Don't format yourself, let the A-100 do it when you install the NMT apps.
All previous contents will be wiped out. NTFS is a bad idea on the A-1x0 series, for both internal HDD *and* external USB. If you use external USB and they are NTFS then only attach to a PC and stream with Samba. And that's my opinion from weeks of wasted time testing over 2 years. Edit: Although if the A100 has trouble recognizing your new HDD during the installation of NMT apps, then yes you need to format it to fat32 or ntfs on your PC, and then redo the installation of NMT apps. |
