Streaming Video FROM my PCH?
Hi, is it possible to stream my videos from my popcorn hour c-200 remotely? With that I mean over the internet. I know it would require my upload speed to be really good. I have fiber internet so that part is np.
So this would not be using the DLNA. The most ideal for me would be the possibility of a browser web page that I can use for browsing and playing.
Any ideas?
I just found this thread: http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...?tid=43071
That's the same subject, I'll continue there.

RE: Streaming Video FROM my PCH?
The network connection would have to be qualified not only from your IP, but all the way to the connecting client. How are you certain that there is no dropouts or other issues in between?

While streaming can be done in theory, most people would probably have to settle with streaming low bitrate media.

DLNA is designed for LAN's, AFAIK.
While the DLNA (aka UPnP and thus based on http) is a fast protocol it cannot stream ISO/IMG.
(Although some streamers, like llink, can also stream iso's over http.)

You would have to open some port on the router and forward it to your NMT.
Not a very secure solution, as the NMT is designed for media streaming over LAN. You might be able to use VPN though, either in your router (if it supports it) or on the NMT - custom installed though.

There are older threads with users who have attempted to do this before, search the board!

RE: Streaming Video FROM my PCH?
I did watch over internet from another PCH owner via MyiHome. I have his IP and port saved to my PCH. It is working fine with SD and 720p.
So it is possible. You need proper port forwarding and software to do it.

RE: Streaming Video FROM my PCH?
Yea exactly, I do know about the port forwarding etc. And if I'm able to hold a stable connection to download the file from my pch, I can't see how I shouldn't be able to hold my connection to stream it. I know I might not be able to stream blu ray rips etc, but I do have a lot of 350mb or 700 mb video files that I would like to stream over the web.
I tried llink but I'm sorta new to that stuff, and all I figured out how to do was browse the movies from my pc but when I clicked one, I started downloading it instead of playing it.

Yes, llink should be browsed from another NMT, not the PC browser which doesn't understand the VOD argument.

So, is there anything that would work with a PC browser?

I don't see why it wouldn't be possible to have a second index, generated by YAMJ for example, that has relative links instead of absolute. Off the top of my head I don't know how to set it up, but that doesn't mean you can't figure out how to tweak the path in the config files.

RE: Streaming Video FROM my PCH?
Tweak the paths? Is it just about another path to make it stream instead of download? I wouldn't think so.

RE: Streaming Video FROM my PCH?
Ok, AND tell your browser to always begin playing the file immediately using your application of choice, rather than download.
