Q: Can I stream music from my PCH internal HDD to my 360
I was just wondering if it was possible to get my Xbox 360 to see my PCH and stream my music from it and how I would go about it.

This would be really handy as I have all my music on HDD on my PCH and it means I would be able to play music while I play games without having to have my (noisy) computer on.

thanks in advance.

the Xbox360 supports UPnP servers, so you could try playing around with the PCH UPnP AV server app

How do I access the server app? Under settings from the main menu on the PCH I have UPnP AV Server running and my PC asks if I want to share TO my PCH but media player (and my 360) don't seem to be able to recieve/share FROM the PCH.

I've still not managed to get my xbox (nor WMP11) to see my music on the popcorn hour. The PCH and 360 can see the library on my computer but not the other way around.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Have you loaded and started the UPnP server on the PCH? It is a separate application that you have to download and start.

Other than that I can state from experience that the Xbox360 does not see normal UPnP Servers. There is some weird configuration that they use. Perhaps PCH can look into this if it is still not working. All you have to do is look at all the NAS boxes running twonky or fuppes that have issues with the Xbox360 to understand that there is "something" non-standard about the Xbox360 UPnP stuff.

When I installed the hdd it downloaded lots of apps that now show in the options. I have selected "Start" next to the UPnP option. I assume that's all I need to do to get it running.

RE: Q: Can I stream music from my PCH internal HDD to my 360
I'm trying to do the same thing here and also having problems. Actually, I'm trying to serve up video from my PCH to Xbox 360- same UPnP, I assume, except for an added bit of DLNA, maybe.

Anyway, has this (lack of) connectivity been resolved in any way? I'd heard that the Xbox 360 was DLNA compliant and the PCH claims DLNA connectivity, but I guess it didn't really claim what it was a DLNA client or server.

Anyway, I've got almost everything turned on. Which would it really be- myihome server or UPnP?

Finally, does the directory matter? Do videos need to be in the Video directory to be served up? What about a USB drive?

Okay, looking at the PCH with my Roku Soundbridge (UPnP compatible), I'm seeing all my videos and music (and photos if I had any), so the directory doesn't matter and so it seems the PCH is serving things up fine but the Xbox 360 isn't seeing it at all- unless there's a difference between UPnP and DLNA?

I guess there might be a slight difference in DLNA flavors between the Xbox 360 and the PCH/NMT. Should I add Xbox 360 compatibility to the feature requests?

But arent both the other XBOX user and the ROKU product telling you its a problem with the XBOX?

So why should you or rather Syabas spend time fixing XBOX issues with upnp when there are bugs that need sorting? Syabas have to replicate bugs to be able to fix them. They arent going to source an XBOX to fix XBOX problems. Get onto XBOX.

RE: Q: Can I stream music from my PCH internal HDD to my 360
Good point- it does look like a problem with the Xbox 360. However, do you think I'm going to get an even better response from Microsoft? Smile

But is the problem really with the Xbox or are the PCH and Roku broken in both the same way?

I figure the DLNA has the final say in these things since they're the certifying body, however none of the devices is DLNA certified. So much for being able to point the finger at any one product. But given their track record, it's not to hard to blame Microsoft.

You're right, though, I should just get Microsoft to fix their compatibility issues. I'm glad Syabas is willing to take a stand and not roll over and deal with Microsoft's standards-broken software like all the other companies that make their websites specifically work for IE's non-standard html, for instance Wink

Had I really wanted a DLNA compliant game system, I should have voted with my pocketbook and just gotten a PS3.
