Mac OSX + Popcorn Hour A110
Hello,
my popcorn hour a-110 is connected to a switch which is connected to my wireless router. I would like to use my macbook pro to wireless transfer data to my popcorn hour. How do i have to do this ? I can't see the internal drive of the popcorn on my macbook. No network settings have been put in the popcorn hour. Do i just have to give it a ipaddress ? thx. |

RE: Mac OSX + Popcorn Hour A110
In order to access the internal hard drive via the network, you need to ensure the following:
1) Installed NMT Apps via the MAINTENANCE page of SETUP. 2) Enabled Samba and/or FTP servers via the NMT APPLICATIONS page of SETUP, depending upon how you wish to transfer files. FYI, FTP is much faster on the PCH, though less convenient than the Samba server which allows you to simply mount the drive on your desktop and drag files around. 3) Set your PCH's network settings via the NETWORK page of SETUP. Dynamic or Static IP, etc. I believe it should already be set to Dynamic, meaning it should already be set to establish itself on the network out-of-the-box so nothing else needs to be done here. If you enabled the SAMBA server, from the Finder, select from the menu GO->CONNECT TO SERVER... (or Command-K), type in (without quotes) "smb://{ip address}" or "smb://{PCH name}", replacing the {ip address} or {PCH name} with the appropriate information from your A-110. The IP address is found on the NETWORK Setup page, whilst the PCH name is found on the NMT APPLICATIONS Setup page. I would recommend using the IP address for now as the PCH name may not resolve properly depending upon how your network is setup and perhaps which computer has taken over as the Master Browser (my sister's Windows NT laptop created havoc on my network over the holidays). Click on the CONNECT button... If you enabled the FTP server, you need to select and download an FTP application of your choice (I personally use TRANSMIT, but it's commercial software. CYBERDUCK is a popular free FTP application for OS X), then follow that FTP app's operating instructions to access your PCH. TOMY: The Only Mac YAMJ GUI, now for Windows too! Both available here. |
