BAD networking experience playing large files
Hi
I just bought my A210.. I thought I was getting 'da bomb' but I've only had bad experiences so far. my main concern right now is playback of larger files.. I started using the Wlan usb thingy I bought but this didn't work very well. so no matter I thought.. I'll switch over to cabled LAN. I hooked up my 1Gb switch and started up a new movie (yes I did switch over to cabled network). Now with Wireless I could not play files of 3Gb (or larger) Now.. on cable I tried a larger file... 8gb mkv file over cabled LAN from a NAS. But.. less than 3 minutes into the movie and stuttering appears.. movie freezes... This is extremely frustrating... I am SO hoping that this isn't the norm.. I mean.. what kindda of playback are you guys getting? this is most unimpressive... I thought I'd be able to stream full size Blue rays here.. I haven't tried a 4Gb DVD rip yet.. but I don't really care if it can.. I need it to be able to play back WHATEVER I want.. and not be limited to files below 3-4Gb... What can I do to fix this BIG BIG issue? |

RE: BAD networking experience playing large files
Configure your A-210 for 10/100, not Auto.
Should be no problem playing full 50GB Bluray rips. |

RE: BAD networking experience playing large files
USB WiFi is not capable of reaching speeds for HD streaming.

RE: BAD networking experience playing large files
Don't mix up file transfer capacity with streaming capacity.
Most bluray rips peak at ~44 mbps, which should be no sweat on a typical wired LAN without Gig-E. What protocol do you connect with to your NAS: SMB, NFS or do you use some UPnP service? If you have a Linux based NAS I suggest you setup NFS and connect with nfs-tcp://ip.of.your.nas:/some/exported/path This is all described in the NMT Wiki.
