When will we see new Popcorn with SMP 8910 ?

Hello Popcorn fans, not sure if this is the right section, but I would like to know if Popcorn Hour has any plans regarding the new chipset of Syabas, the SMP 8910 ?

Syabas announced its SMP 8910 a short while ago, and it will be a "full HD 3D" chipset, with support of 3D-Blu-Ray isos and other 3D formats.

Do we have any official statement of Popcorn regarding this, e.g. an ETA about a new full 3D-compatible model ?

Here's a timeline using past experiences;

January 2009 - Sigma announces release of 8643

Sept 2009 - Popcorn Hour C200 available for sale.

That's just the hardware.

Firmware is a tricky process too as we are all well aware.

First they only said samples would be out in 2011 production would not be till at least 2012 not to mention the price tag will shock most. Good scalers ain't cheap

Thanks for your answers, so I conclude there is no official statement at all about a new model including the new Syabas chipset. It will be interesting to see which NMT company will be first to announce this

There is only one company making NMT's. Syabas trading as Popcorn Hour.

No one else has the license to use Syabas's trademarked middleware.

That is why we have not seen any other companies launching a 200 series NMT with the 8643 chip.

You may be meaning which company will launch a 8910 media player first. In which case there's no winning here for being first, you just get slaughtered for bringing out a product that has bugs due to the early Sigma SDK/libs.

looks like in the last example it was 8 months after release of the new chip before we saw an nmt using it. if 8910 release was announced recently?

then I guess we we wont have an 8910 based nmt until March 2012?

8910 was announced but last i herd no one received any samples yet. So maybe late 2012.

Yes i will buy a 3D TV when a media player is available. I hope hdmi 1.4 dual sockets are incorporated so will be compatible with my old amp. One cable to TV for 3D and the other cable to amp to receive HD audio. Otherwise no buy for me.

There were no players with the 8910 in them at CES.

I would go with non working display unit. it was in a glass case and no hands on or internal views. they just have a video playing on a tv. so hard to say.

It was reported as just the case, same case they've been carrying around for the last couple years..

I can't see syabas not releasing a unit. question is how many lawns do we need to cut in order to afford it.
