another noobie question
i just joined a usenet provider yesterday.
then i had to choose a newsreader. then, because i am such a noob and need convenience, i need an easy way to get nzb files. so i wind up leaving my "imprint" at three places instead of one. is there a usenet provider that provides all of that, so that i can just register at one place? thanks in advance. |

RE: another noobie question
Not sure how much info can be given re: NZB's but I guess as long as content and only 'how to' is discussed it should be ok?
I use Usernet NZBget is already on the PCH A PC based NZBget alternative is Grabit or Sabnzb To find content you can use sites like NZBmatrix or Binsearch Is that the sort of info you needed? |

RE: another noobie question
First of all, thanks for the quick reply. I'll check those that you mentioned.
Second, if my first post here is out of line, I apologize. I didn't realize I was discussing something I should not. As I said, my first usenet experience was yesterday and I'm basically just getting my footing. As stated, I'll check the places mentioned as I look for a sort if "all in one" usenet experience. I'm looking for the simplest way for access not only for me but for others I may have to walk thru this (and they know even less than I do--if that's possible). |

RE: another noobie question
No your post was fine - it's just be aware that you can't discuss what you're downloading if it's not of the legal kind
![]() However, I am using oversight as my 'all in one' solution. It uses the NZBget on the PCH Once you find the file you want to downloads you point it towards the NZB folder - it downloads and then Oversight unpack it for you and then displays in a jukebox view Also once you get up to speed on this you can then use Feedtime to automatically download from RSS feeds (great for TV shows you like) Have a look around the forums there are loads of people/post to help. If you do use oversight/nzbget/feedtime configuration then don't forget to give Lordy a donation for all his (ongoing) hard work

RE: another noobie question
If you are worried about your 'imprint', you only need to be concerned about the connection to newsgroups, nzb downloads or searches are of no concern. Make sure your provider of newsgroups has SSL (your ISP will only be able to see bandwidth and not what you are doing) and does not keep logs (astraweb is one that meets this criteria).
That way no one will know you are downloading all those public domain Polka songs. |
