DTS and AC3 no longer working after changing AAC from Digital Raw to PCM
Hi All,
I am no longer able to hear DTS and AC3 audio. This is the situation I have the following connections Video: A110 -> HDMI -> Amplifier -> HDMI -> TV Sound: A110 -> Optical -> Amplifier -> Speakers My A110 settings were always like this: HDMI audio : on Surround mode : 5.1 DTS :Digital (RAW) AC3 : Digital (RAW) AAC : Digital (RAW) WMA pro : Digital (RAW) I was always able to hear DTS and AC3 audio perfectly via my Amp Also I was never able to hear AAC and WMA as my amplifier can't decode these 2. So I decided to just change AAC to PCM and saved the settings. From that moment onwards I am not able to hear any audio at all anymore. I.e DTS and AC3 stopped working. No sound and also the Amp indicates that it does not receive any channel anymore. I had the same problem 1.5 year ago and after several weeks of changing audio/video settings, saving , rebooting etc etc it suddenly worked again for DTS and AC3. Unfortunately I was not able that time to draw a conclusion on what really solved it. My Amp is not able to handle audio via HDMI that's is why I have the optical connection. But that worked fine until I changed the AAC setting Does anybody have any idea how I can at least get DTS and AC3 back to work via my optical connection? |

RE: DTS and AC3 no longer working after changing AAC from Digital Raw to PCM
Hi
Thank you for the suggestion. Tried unplugging optical, hdmi, and both cables in combinations with reset (via front a110), power off/on cycles (switch), reboot and shutdown. But it did not help. Tried also TV mode 4,5,6 (component) to try force the audio over optical but no luck sofar If only I could tell the pch to send audio over optical again. Is it a bit strange that setting the AAC to PCM results in also affecting DTS and AC3..... Any other suggestions? |

RE: DTS and AC3 no longer working after changing AAC from Digital Raw to PCM
Do you have audio from the TV speakers now? it might be going over HDMI cause the TV declared to the receiver that it can take PCM over HDMI and the receiver told the A110.
HDMI handshakes overrule config settings... PCH-A100/A210/C200/A400 500GB EXT3 HDD<-->HDMIv1.3<-->Onkyo TX-NR1010<-->HDMIv1.3<-->Panasonic TX-P46S10 13 NTFS USB drives on 3 hubs attached to the A300, 3 Seagate blackarmour NAS 3TB, 2 Seagate Central 4TB The inability to setup and configure the NMT should not be disguised as a defect of the box |

Hello, i am having this same problem although all audio is going over hdmi as i have not got an optical lead going from pch to my receiver. I changed the audio from HD-DTS to PCM to see if the file did have audio. Now i have changed it back and nothing. As i have changed it to PCM, and HDMI handshakes overrule config settings - how do you turn this back again? Would appreciate some help getting this fixed. Many thanks |

My TV itself does not have speakers (loewe compose) but is attached via analog audio to my receiver. The frustrating thing is that indeed my TV does show me all the time that it is receiving a DTS audio signal via HDMI. So I can see the audio signal but can't hear it :-) I can't hear the audio as my receiver is expecting the audio input from the a110. I am not sure perhap it is possible to loop the audio back from my TV to the receiver again). But ideally I would just like to see that my receiver gets the audio signal again via the optical from the a110. If the TV indeed via hdmi tells to overrule the config. How can I avoid this. Even tried switching on/off the receiver / TV and a110 in different sequences. Perhaps not all combinations yet. I will try a bit more. I do appreciate all the suggestions being made sofar |

RE: DTS and AC3 no longer working after changing AAC from Digital Raw to PCM
Hi All,
Last thing I did not try yet. Replace the optical cable. That solved the problem. I must have damaged it while removing it and attaching it again trying to solve the problem above. Still it is funny why I lost my sound in the first place when trying to change the AAC setting from Digital raw to PCM.... |
