any nmt ftp server replacements for c200 with resume support?
Any community ftp server replacements support resume? This is me assuming that the client it comes with doesn't support it. If I pause or stop a ftp on my client and hit resume (just to test), it's never able to do it.
Is there a ftp server replacement that would support resume? Most of the time movies copy just fine, but occasionally it stinks to find it die at 28/32gb and have to send the thing alllll over again. |

Strange, I thought resume was handled on the client side?
There is a CSI package called LundFTPd which enables another ftpd on port 2222 (or was it 2223?) Install via CSI (nmtinstaller.com) or install it manually (lundman.net - requires a lot more tweaking). Audio, video, disco - I hear, I see, I learn. Wiki. Wiki? Wiki! |

RE: any nmt ftp server replacements for c200 with resume support?
I did read that thread before I came here but I didn't see it listed as a feature.
I've lurked many searched posts about the default NMT ftp server being flaky. Many people experience disconnects. I use smartftp which is a great client, albeit not free. I send huge 50-200gb projects to/from my workstations at work and they have no problem resuming if a transfer fails. It will auto-detect a connection drop or a error during sending and go into eternal retry intervals constantly trying to connect to the server to resume. It gives a log at the end and says how many drops it had. On 200gb files I transfer to/from work I do see some dropouts and I see it resume right away (going to either a win 2k8 server R2 or osx server). No problems at all. On the PCH, if I start a transfer, pause or drop it and try to resume, I can't even connect to the FTP server anymore. Not via windows, smartftp, terminal ftp, etc haha. It just dies. Using the latest online nmt apps on a brand spanking new internal ext3 format/nmt app install yesterday. I got so tired of NTFS issues and no CSI ability because I had NMT apps on a USB stick and I can't use the CSI. So I transferred one movie so far (over wifi) and it worked fine. Started on the second file and at some point (only 8MB/s, takes a while) it died and the same reconnect issues all over. The FTP server appears dead. Does anyone who's installed LundFTPd know if it supports resumes? I know 8MB/s is pretty slow but the machine I anydvd rip my bluray isos on is a spare machine and I really don't care if it transfers for 2 hours just to put a new cartoon on for my kid. FTP is desirable to me.. Besides I only buy my kid new cartoons as they come out, not all that often. And smartftp shuts down the computer when the ftp is done so it's much less painful than ferrying external HDs between floors. |

FWIW, I do resume with both the default ftpd (pure-ftpd) and LundFTPd.

RE: any nmt ftp server replacements for c200 with resume support?
Perhaps this is an issue of having the drive formatted NTFS? I just reformatted the internal drive back to ext3, perhaps that'll solve the issue.
A friend of mine who also has a c200 says his default ftp can resume just fine but he's a linux junkie and I know he uses all ext3. I'll report back if resume 'magically' is enabled with ext3 so others will know it might be a samba/ntfs resume issue. |

I use smartftp as I mentioned above. An extremely configurable and sophisticated (commercial) ftp client.

RE: any nmt ftp server replacements for c200 with resume support?
Believe me I'm not trying to push smartftp. I just started using it within the last week. A client demanded I purchase it because I needed to upload them 400gb worth of HD video and it's just $50 and the felt it was the most reliable.. So far it's been flawless. Come to find out a close friend who owns several voice and gaming server sites swears by the same software as extremely reliable.
In windows, when you load explorer and just ftp://nmt:1234@192.168.1.x:2223 it doesn't ever connect but smartftp connects right away with no additional options. Right now I'm copying a small 2GB "The Wiggles Big Show" DVD for my kid to this laptop and I'm going to try smartftp over wifi to see if it fails or works.. I have the lundftpd installed and I hope resume works.. Here's to hoping *crosses fingers*. If it works, I'm going to start uploading 500gb in files tonight and just let her rip xD What kind off sucks is I'm connected on this laptop at 11gn speed and the damn thing refuses to copy over 1.54MB/s. There must be some kind of option to force N-speed I haven't found on this old SMC tri-antenna router.. |
