NMT to replace unsupported Egreat EG34A
Hi all.
I have a PCH A110 and an Egreat EG34A. I am finding that the Egreat seems to be having problems with some ISOs just going to a blank screen and locking up when selected. Does this consistently on the same ISOs, but not on all ISOs. All of my ISOs are from TV series DVDs ripped with CloneDVD, and each are a complete copy of the original disc. Some DVDs in a series will work, but others not. There have been no firmware upgrades for the Egreat for some time. The PCH will play the problematic ISOs. I notice that they still seem to put out a new firmware occasionally - so apparently still supported. So, long story short I am looking to replace the Egreat. I need a device that will work with My Lil Movie Jukebox, so the likes of Popbox are out of the question. I don't need wi-fi, and an internal HDD is not essential. I want the small size of the Egreat and as a minimum, DTS-HD and TrueHD pass-through (if not decoded on board). It needs to play VOBs ISOs, M4V files and AAC audio. Looking for the best quality in video and audio - so I'd be keen on a recent, reliable chip. However, the more I look the more confused I get. Can anyone point me in the direction of a device about the size of the Egreat EG-34A, which will work with MLMJ and meet my other requirements. Thanks. Allan |

RE: NMT to replace unsupported Egreat EG34A
Popcornhour may have charged a little more than eGreat for their player but you get decent support for a very long time. eGreat don't as they dont resource it, your choice when you bought.
I would wait or get an A210 if you want a NMT with the newer chip and bluray menus etc. The C200 is too large for you and the A210 although not as small as the M34 at the same/similar size to the A110. A400: SSD+SD Card(Apps), HDMI A300: USB(Apps), HDMI C200: USB(Apps), BD SH-B083L(SB01), HDMI CAT6 Wired Network: TV TX-P42G20, HP ProCurve 1400-8G, Netgear GS-608/605, Synology CS407 |
