Is this purely a bugfix release or are there significant feature upgrades in the NMT apps. (I tend to avoid doing a firmware update until there's sufficient gain to be had)

tiefling it is a stepstone so there is no way to not upgrade to this firmware and apps, without this firmware you won't be able to upgrade to any later firmware.

Sadly I have to say I had no luck with either of the procedures described before.

No LTU installed, HDD disconnected, ... Still getting ERR059.

After, 10 try, this morning the update go completed (no more ERR059)...
Install NMT App also without problem.

One thing, can I install now TLU in this Firmware?

yes should work, it is only that LTU is blocking the update, when the update is done you should be able to use it again, anyway i didn't try it it because i don't use any of this apps.

Yes, currently 4 times at least.

when you failed one time then you don't need to try it 4 times, so if you jumped over one step and it failed then it can't work anymore, because your mac adress is already logged at the keyserver, so if you try again it won't allow you todo so, thats why you see err059.
Please send me your MAC adress because we will release mac adresses now only by request, there are currently only 10 left which failed, but this 10 didn't try the new steps and there mac adress is still not logged as failed again.
So you are now the first one where it still fails.

Perhaps I missed something, but why does Syabas need the Mac address for the update? Does this mean that Syabas can lock your machine remotely, or lock you out of any future updates?

Does this also mean that in the future you need an internet connection, even if you are updating through USB?

no it was needed to program the new keys, the aacs key is unique for every mac address + cpu code and gets created in realtime, and no you won't need the internet for newer updates, the only time when you will need it again is when the 18 months are over again and a aacs keyupdate is needed again.
