Sound problem: HD sound trough speakers
When I turn on my pch I can hear the harddisk spinning up trough my speakers. When the harddisk is at operating speed a high constant tone keeps comming trough the speakers. When I unplug the pch the sound is inmediatly gone.
Has anyone got any idea how to resolve theis problem? |

RE: Sound problem: HD sound trough speakers
are you sure its the hd noise and not a ground loop? as a test try disconnected the coax from the wall as its usually number 1 cause fo ground loops

I had already been reading about ground loops but I thought that wasn't the problem as I could "hear" the hard disk spinning up. I unplugged the coax and magically the humming disapeared! Do you perhaps have some hints and tips to eliminate this coax ground loop? |

I also had some ground loop issues I eliminated it by using a coax to optical converter

RE: Sound problem: HD sound trough speakers
there is tons of small things to do get a ground loop block. little block your coax plugs into and grounds on the plug ground. poor man fix and i dont recommend it is snapping the ground pin off the power cable of the pch. Ground loops and how to fix them are a voodoo art no one solution works for everyone.

RE: Sound problem: HD sound trough speakers
put both devices in the same grounded wall socket and you could connect both chassis with a thin wire if you want to stick with COAX.....
thread tittle is a bit strange as I remember HD audio as in 6 channel DTS-HD or DD-HD was not possible over SPdif... PCH-A100/A210/C200/A400 500GB EXT3 HDD<-->HDMIv1.3<-->Onkyo TX-NR1010<-->HDMIv1.3<-->Panasonic TX-P46S10 13 NTFS USB drives on 3 hubs attached to the A300, 3 Seagate blackarmour NAS 3TB The inability to setup and configure the NMT should not be disguised as a defect of the box |

He ment he can hear the hard drive spin up over the speakers. and by coax i was referring to the cable coming into the house from the wall. its almost always the cause of ground loops. |

Yeah I know what he ment and responded to that, just when I first saw the tittle I though it was about HD audio on a A100 series
