Switch off every day or not.
Hi,

Does some problem exist leaving the connected PCH all day, or is it better to turn off it if you don't use it?

Thanks.

It's probably a good idea to unplug it now and again to give a nice reboot. I find I have to reboot mine every few weeks or so, otherwise I start getting some minor issues with MKV playback. Minor setback for such a great mkv player, though.

Exactly the same here Smile

A softreboot will do the same - no need to physically unplug.
Just hit "power" followed by "usb eject" to soft reboot whenever theres a need for a clearing of memory usage on the PCH.

I have mine plugged into one of those 8 way extensions that kills power to certain sockets when the item plugged into the master socket (in my case the tv) is switched off. I did notice last night that it had lost all my settings and shares and I had to reset them. Thought they would have been held in the firmware or HD somewhere else non-volatile.

Stand by mode

Chris, how can you tell you're in standby mode? It seems to me that all 3 remote combinations to control the power (on and off, delete, eject) on the PH seems to do roughly the same thing to the PH. If I hit them enough times, I eventually get a black screen. I can't get it to completely switch off (leds off) no matter what I use. I surely thought this would be fixed in the latest firmware, but alas, no. And I've tried every combination and variation of those buttons to make sure I'm pushing them correctly. It just doesn't seem to do anything different, so I've been yanking the plug out when I'm done using it for the day. Stupid, but if there's no other way to shut this thing down, what else can you do?? I'm not at all convinced that the remote is working the same for everyone, even at the same firmware level.

C-300 w/Bluray/DVD: 3tb WD internal drive (movies and music only), USB NMT APPs, Linksys/Cisco PL300 200 Mbps Powerline network (works great).
A200: 1.5tb HDD, flaky WN-150, replaced with Linksys PLK300 (details below) .
A110: 3.5" 1.5 tb HDD, 16GB USB HDD.
A100: 3.5" 500 gb HDD, 250gb USB HDD. (retired, she served me well...)
Network: Linksys/Cisco PL300 200 Mbps Powerline hub/routers (nice!).
Samsung UA46B6000 LED/LCD.
