Youtube, annoying problem with pixelation
Hi.

Generally i like the Youtube application, but ive started watching Youtube videos of different types of Computer-Games playthroughs, and i keep having issues with the video output.

It affects the playback of the video in the following way:

1) The video gets pixelated in several spots, that are not updated (or not updated enough)
2) If the video pans to a new Screen section(entirely new graphics), it updates the whole image, and everything is fine again until 1) starts to appear again.

Ive included a link to one of the gameplay videos "Totalhalibut's first look of heroes of might and magic VI"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gxejyj4My...ideo_title

It works fine on my computer, but when playing it through the youtube app, i see severe pixelation. Sad

RE: Youtube, annoying problem with pixelation
This problem exists for a long time already and will most likely never be fixed. It's caused by Videos requiring Flash 9 or higher whereas the NMT Flash support is based on version 8.

Media Player: Popcorn Hour C-200 (with Samsung SpinPoint HM500JI, Lite-On iHOS104-37 and Alpha WMP-ND02 WLAN-Module)
TV: Grundig Vivance 32 LXW 82-6710 REF
Receiver: Topfield 5000 PVRt (with 160 GB HD)
Sound: LG FB162-DOU
NAS: Netgear ReadyNAS NVX RNDX400E

Interesting. If I remember correctly, this is the explanation Werner had provided in the German forum.

RE: Youtube, annoying problem with pixelation
I'll double check that statement to make sure i'm accurate but i'm 95% sure it's just the transport. But the pch is considered an embedded device to youtube and there's a lot of if they feel like it overrides they can do on the video. so even if the pch asks for the HD video, you may just be scaling up the mobile low end video.
I'm getting a little lost following what's doing what as part of the player is in the framework.. although something interesting, it's setting the screen to 1280x745 for youtube video.. probably part of the problem. based on the size command, its probably flash playing it and I'm incorrect..

Now to find out if this might be part of the why nothing lines up where you think you put it and blurry full screen artwork Smile

RE: Youtube, annoying problem with pixelation
ok we're both right... FLDH appears to have been extended which this version is designed for so it's a combination of flash and the hardware. Of course not knowing the exact video url it's reading, it's possible the video your looking at is flv and the lower 320 or 480. i have no clue exactly what play extensions were added so I'm not sure if it's setup in a way that it's bypassing the 3g or mp4 versions accidently.

It does appear the video playback window is being stretched a hair with 1280x745 as the playback window.

RE: Youtube, annoying problem with pixelation
Wonder if that's why only part of the logo appears on some sites and it appears to be missing part of the screen.

Seen it also on other players though so it may be a strange 'feature' of flash.

Our developer did this to make the original Youtube player control bar off the screen.

RE: Youtube, annoying problem with pixelation
Does that only impact the ui part of the player or does it cause a vertical stretch of the video also?

RE: Youtube, annoying problem with pixelation
The reason may be about the flash...because youtube always bring some new features or changes..
