A210 crash when downloading with Torrent
Hi there,

I have an new A210 for a week now and i am getting crazy because it is crashing time after time during downloading.

Here's what i do :

When I want to download a Torrent from the site where i normally download my torrents (torrents are 100% OK) i save the torrent on the popcorn. I open the torrent on the Popcorn and the popcorn starts downloading it with Torrent.

But after a while downloading (sometimes 1 hour sometimes 5 minutes sometimens not !) my A210 crash. I can't do anything with the controller anymore, only hold the power button for 5 seconds so the device will turn off. After it's off and i push the power button again the story continous...

First i thoughy it was the problem of the HDD. I first had a WD AERS 1TB but changed it to an Samsung F2 1TB. (There's a list somewhere on this site where is standing OK by this type to use it for an A210). So I also reinstalled all the nmt progs.

But problem stays.

I also played with the options :
x Network speed Automatic or 10/100Mbit
x Lower the max download speed and upload speed.

And creative things i did :
x Only trie to download one torrent a time and not more.
x Don't do anything else on the popcorn or my network with the popcorn while torrents are down or uploading.
x Opend up UTP TCP port what i put in the program (I manually choose one above the 55000)

But nomatter what i do the problem stays. Crash crash crash.

So i realy hope that there is somebody here who knows the solution for this problem.

Thanks already for everybody who will react or try to help.

(and sorry for my english:-P)

Greetings from the Netherlands.

RE: A210 crash when downloading with Torrent
How much did you lower the max download and upload speeds?
How many connections do you allow?

RE: A210 crash when downloading with Torrent
I lowered it to max down 2 Mb/s and 350 b/s up.

What you mean by connections ? Witch connections ?

RE: A210 crash when downloading with Torrent
I actually don't use the PCH for torrent, but there should be setting for how many connections are allowed.
Connection is how many sources you can download or upload to/from at the same time.

On uTorrent on a PC the default is:
max 400 global
max 90 per torrent

Try setting the max download even lower and see if it gets more stable.

RE: A210 crash when downloading with Torrent
I think 2Mb/s is geeting a bit quick for th eplayer, especially if you are using the HDD or player for something else.

Try a limit of 1.5Mb/s and see if that helps if reducing the connections doesnt solve it.

You should be able to edit things like connections if you are using a CSI version of Transmission rather than the NMT Apps version of Transmission. Transmission is the torrent client the NMT uses now.

RE: A210 crash when downloading with Torrent
I now entered downloadspeed 1,3 Mb/s and upload 300 B/s. It's already more stable.

But i can't set the connection with the original Torrent client what the PCH A210 has so i leave it that way. Cause there is no option for it !

But i hear a lot about transmission. Can somebody give me a link from the file what i can put on a USB so i can install it on my PCH ?

And how can I remove the Torrent program what is still on it ? Or do i only need to put it on hold in the settings ?

I am verry happy that it doesn't crash anymore.

RE: A210 crash when downloading with Torrent
As well as the NMT Apps owners/developers are also developing new programs for the NMT. We refer to these on the forum as userapps.

There is a universal installer for these programs and its called the CSI (community software installer). It also lets you do things to your player from your PC, reboot etc.
It's run on your PC:-
http://www.networkedmediatank.com/wiki/i..._Installer

When you fire it up it will get a list of userapps from repositories. You can then choose which userapp you want to install. Transmission latest versions being one of them. You can then install it and it should have a configuration file for it in the installed location. Use Notepad++ to edit it and bobs your uncle.

Remember though that these userapps are not officially supported by Syabas, if you run into problems or need assistance you have to ask the developers. One of the userapps LTU caused the online update to fail for those who had it installed. Sometimes you may have to reformat or reinstall the NMT Apps if things conflict. It's a good idea to have your NMT Apps and thereby your userapps on a separate USB stick for this reason, your downloads are protected.

There are some excellent RSS torrent/usenet apps.

Ok Chris,

So far so good. Thank you already a lot for your info. I now have installed Transmission latest version on the PCH. And i stopped the torrent NMT in the option screen on the PCH.

But now when i open a torrent file with the PCH it stills go to the old Torrent program, not toTransmission. The web transmission from my laptop to control it works fine. But i can't change or put in any options there and the ones i entered in tranmission on the PCH he doesn't save it when i push save after entering. But you said something about the setup file en wordpad++

I downloaded Wordpad ++ and looked into the files but i don't know where to put my answers for the options. In some files i see Port and connection etc... But where can i put my answers... I am not that technical with files, sorry so again a few questions.

So now i have the following questions :

1. What is the setup file what i need to edit with wordpad++ for transmission and where can i put the numbers from my option so thge program reminds it ?

2. How can i delete the old Torent NMT from my PCH so Transmission is the only torrent program on it so when i open a torrent on the pch it automaticly opens in transmission ? Or do i have to do something else then delete it ?

Hope to hear from you and thanks again.

RE: A210 crash when downloading with Torrent
I will say this only once, the NMT Apps IS Transmission. The CSI versions are updated versions of Transmission. You do not delete the NMT Apps Transmission. Forget it once you have installed the CSI version.

It's notepad++ not wordpad++.

you have to read the readme and edit the conf file which is located in the Appsinit part of the CSI. Read the CSI thread post for its location:-
http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...?tid=41072

It's /share/Apps/Transmission. In there should be the files you need to read and the conf file.

RE: A210 crash when downloading with Torrent
I've often thought we need a glossary on the WIKI.

Sorry I was snappy in my earlier reply I don't want to discourage you from asking for help.

NMT - NetworkedMediaTank, Syabas's trademarked middleware consisting of firmware and NMT Apps. Only a media player running Syabas's trademarked firmware/apps can be called a NMT.
CSI - Community Software Installer. Used on your PC to install userapps to your NMT through your home network. You need to read the CSI thread first post, in 2000 series Devlopment forum section and turn ON your NMT Apps FTP client.

I don't use my NMT for torrents any longer. I use newsgroups on my PC for most of my downloading. So I'm a little rusty on it.
One final thing. Download the LTU package and install it:-
http://nmt200.ru/wp-content/uploads/util...0_v076.zip
To install it you use the CSI, run it and when its linked to your NMT rather than selecting from the lists that are shown select File > Install from File and then when the browser opens select the LTU package you have downloaded.

Next firmware should have these updates hopefully so you may only need it now. It'll help with freezes if you download v.quickly.

RE: A210 crash when downloading with Torrent
I had the same problem with my C200.

The problem was that I had formated my hdd with NTFS file system. This caused errors on my hdd when downloading torrents, and Transmission crashed.

After reformatting to ext3 filesystem, I haven't had a single crash.

Hey Chris,

I installed the LTU package succesfully :-) Peace of cake :-P lol

But now i have the last two questions and i make it myself very easy cause i am getting crazy with all the info :-P

What is the standard port from transmission what i have to open in my router ? Cause if i use the standard port i don't have to change config files ;-) and i know how to open a port in my router.

And second, why does torrent files keep opening in the standard torrent prog if i open them with the PCH and not in my new installed transmission ? Or is transmission a program what is made to use from my computer what works perfect ?

I know you send me a link from the dutchman page but it are 47 pages of info and a lot of funny chit chat so a lot of work to read everything.

If i solves these 2 last things 1 can do everything with my new machine what i want.

Thanks already and if i can do anything for you i hope to hear from you ;-).

Greetings Ronald

With Regards,

Ronald

RE: A210 crash when downloading with Torrent
I found the file where we can make the changes with Notepad and I opened the default ports in my router for transmission.

For other people who want to do this google "edit config file transmission".

The config file can be found in the hidden directory transmission on your PCH.

If some people have problems with it you can always send me a message and i try to help with the things i now know after 20 hours of learning :-P.

Thanks for everything.

With Regards,

Ronald
