Can you access all media remotely on PCH
Is it possible to get access to all media on the PCH. I have a hard drive installed internally, which stores movies, photos and music and wondered if it is possible to access all this remotely from the internet?

RE: Can you access all media remotely on PCH
Access as in copying/deleting/moving files --
Or access as in streaming playback from a remote place? The first is easy. FTP is the typical choice. The latter you need to elaborate: If you are on a LAN, just start the SMB or NFS service on your NMT and connect to it as a normal share, or use llink or UPnP etc etc. If you are accessing from the Internet, well then you must consider a few things. While it is theoretically possible, it does require proper configuration (on your NMT, on your router and on your connecting device), an idea about security and above all: bandwidth. Don't expect to playback of 1080p Bluray ISO's to work over the internet, just like that. Music files, Xvid's and other (fairly) low bitrate media might work, but it depends upon all bottlenecks being wide enough to let that bitrate pass without hickups. Search the board and you'll find this question being debated previously, where there should be more details on what can be done to achieve what you're looking for. Audio, video, disco - I hear, I see, I learn. Wiki. Wiki? Wiki! |
