firmware update
Hi
I`ve bought my PH recently, I would like to update my firmware. On the PH Maintenance screen says that the firmware version is 01-15-080124-14-POP-402-077 Kernel version is 14-POP What firmware should I install? Can I download it to a pendrive and then connect it to the PH? Thanks |

To update the firmware want should I do next? Insert the pendrive into the PH and then run the firmware? I`ve tried this once and the PH blocked! |

here an howto how you should make it.
1.) Download the firmware package from popcornhour.com 2.) extractusbupdate.html, syb8634.nmt and 1-17-080612-15-POP-402-000 to the root of your usb pendrive 3.) Plug in the USB Pendrive and go to Source on your Popcornhour 4.) now you see the 4 symbols Video, Music, Photo and File take File (the 4 th icon) 5.) open the usbupdate.html with "ENTER" and when the site is loaded press again "ENTER" the Firmware Update starts now. (Dont turn it off also when it hangs on an %) 6.) when its done the unit will reboot 7.) after Reboot normaly when you have an hdd built in the NMT Setup Wizard should show up 8.) take Fresh Install if it is the first time and you wanna format the HDD or take Typical Install if you wanna update the Apps 9.) When it asks you about the Source then dont take online take USB and the formatting and installing should start 10.) when its done the device will reboot again 11.) Now all is Uptodate When the NMT Setupwizard dont shows up then start your Popcorn and go to "Maintenance" and then on the right start the "NMT setup wizard" then you can go from Point 8 - 11 This methode you can also use when you wanna install an older firmware and older apps. werner ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Syabas Technology Inc. Well, from point 1 to 6 all went well. As I don`t have an internal HD, i don`t know if the other 5 steps are made but on the Maintenance menú the NMT setup wizard did not appear.

I have done every one of my up and downgrades (probably 20+) from a share. When I watch the steps I think the PCH copies the firmware to the ram disk and then does a crc check so I don't see how the source can be any different from the point of view of risk.
