[Bug] After many good playbacks, SMB playback of 720p MKV lags or freezes, weird UI issues

Long story short, I've watched tons of stuff on my PCH A110 over the years, just encountered this issue tonight.

For some reason 720p MKV files (AVI files in SD, as far as I can tell, are fine) streaming from my Linux server over SMB freeze and sometimes seek ahead really quickly to catch up, sometimes just crash (necessitating a hard reset with the power switch). I've tried this with files I've already played back successfully on the PCH. Wired connection, so Wi-Fi is not an issue (I have replaced both wires going to the switch just to be sure).

Also noticed it'll sometimes boot me out randomly when browsing a directory, and then claim that it "can't resolve the host" when I try to get back in (I replaced the SMB name with the IP address and the "can't resolve" message goes away but I still get randomly booted from the menu... Network Browser "Workgroup" is not visible sometimes).

Nothing on the server box has changed, and I am able to stream at full speed to another PC.

I've tried updating to the latest firmware through the onscreen interface. (as of tonight).

I've tried resetting to factory defaults and re-adding my share information.

Is the hardware just dying? That would be annoying. I've had this less than 2 years (bought Oct 6, 2009 and paid $250 CAD). If so I'll be looking for a replacement and it won't be another PCH, if I can't expect it to last even 2 years.
