this is a Forum Release, i decided to release it now, because QA was not able to finish the test by this week, so i give you guys something for the weekend.

Take note that this Firmware can only be installed over USB

you say they werent able to finish the test but is this the finale finished firmware and safe to use like what if it doesnt pass the next test?

we have 3 different steps in testing, 1 one is to test that update doesn't fail, that update from different firmwares work, that flashing back to old firmware works, that recovery works,..........................
If this test pass then it is safe to flash because you can go back to previous firmware normally without a issue.
Second Part is playback, nmt apps,............................
Third Part is testing the apps from appsmarket, downloading,............

I release it for the forum only, if you are not sure then better wait for official Release, thats the Reason why i won't add it to the Top Banners and also not announce it.

The steps are like this.
1, make an FW
2, Then QA test the FW and if they say YES then read nr4 if they say NO read nr3.
3, If failed QA they start over.
4, If yes then the FW will be released as a beta to the betatesters and untill they say YES the FW goes back to the start again and again and comes back to the beta testers in this order beta1,beta2,beta3,etc and then go to RC1,RC2,RC3etc (release candidate) and untill the beta tester says YES or if syabas decide to release it anyway (and yes they do that often) then it will be a final FW release (that will go to QA a final time for a quick test and i assume that this FW is in this stage).

So since QA have not tested the FW yet (or only partially) it WILL BE an uncertain element to install it hell it can be that anyway too.
It is ONLY YOU that can decide if you want to install it now or wait until the QA,beta testers is done.

that are the right steps

1.) Make a firmware
2.) QA test first that flashing works forward, backward, recovery,..... then they make general tests that test needs normally 1-2 days
then they send out a report of there first result, if they void it then 1.) starts again
if this Test is OK then it will go to betatesters
3.) QA makes now tests with different files, some overnight tests, stress tests,......, Network, Apps Market,........ after that a second report will get send out, if it fails or has critical issues, regression then we start at 1 again, if there are minor issues then they will continue testing and jump to point 4.), minor issues will get overlooked and if enough time they will fix them.
4.) QA makes now tests with special files , test different Equipment,.............. and send out third report with final test result.
they will list issues they found,..............
5.) With the third report we discuss then if we release it or not

3) repeat every 7 days until werner is tired of waiting and posts it anyway

PCM down mix if playing FLAC 2.0 Music
or you will get multi 7:1 output

NMJ Works fine

YCbCr works perfect

problems not fixed with this new fw:
- access to a samba-share on a synology nas is only possible with the guest-account.
- goto xx% is not possible in flac-files

Just did a few quick tests

Browsing via SMB directory list doesn't appear any faster, for me it still pauses every 22 rows to apparently fetch the next 22 rows. Still not possible to skip to a folder number (I know it wasn't listed in the release notes).

The Star Wars BD ISO images are still unplayable, other though play fine.

I was playing a movie, and skimming through the subtitle options - the screen then went black. I stopped and then tried to play the movie, the screen went black, then returned to the directory. Any movie I tried to play after that then did the same thing. After restarting the PCH files play ok. Not sure if it was just specific to the movie I was playing or if it would happen with others - will try test.

Will do some more testing tomorrow on other features.
