Easily play internet streams / radio stations using MPD
Couldn't find this on the forum yet, so I thought I might share. I have a A210 with MPD running happily. I use Gnome Music Player Client to control it from my XP laptop and MPoD from my iPhone. All works like a charm. TV is switched off and it stream directly to my stereo.
I have no cable to that system, but sometimes I do want to listen to the radio. Most of the stations I listen to are available in mp3-streams (dutch and belgian channels). Now here's the fun part, open the internet (mp3) stream in WinAmp, save the playlist to .m3u file in \\Pch\share\Apps\local\etc\mpd\playlists. After a restart you can just choose the playlist in MPD and play any stream you saved like this ![]() Remco (added some resource links) |

Another way adding from podcast directory -updated-
Yup, this was the possibility I looked for to stop spilling the 100W electricity used by my tv and use my smartphone for playing hdd and internet music and even bittorent downloading with the pch.
-updated: -I found out I can copy stream url's from for instance http://www.ipodder.org/radio, without using winamp, and and paste into a .m3u file with texteditor pspad.-end updated- A .m3u file from winamp looks like this: Code: #EXTM3UUntil now I have installed on my pch: CSI,opkg, mpd, telnet server on my android phone:Droided media tank (-updated:-for playing directly music or playlist files from hdd with out updating/using a music database; for bittorrent and other webclients-end updated-),BitMPC (play from mpd database and playlist with internet radio) & DroidMPD (for update mpd database in options). Next thing on my wish-list is an android app to browse streams and directly, without cut and paste, play.
Configuration 2012 aug 15: PCH-A210 internal samsung HD103SJ 1TB, hdmi:tv philips 32PFL8404H-12, installed: opkg, mpd, busybox, gzip PC: Vista, CSI, Notepad++, GMPC, remote gui's transmission, usb hdd with media backup Android smartphone: ConnectBot, BitMPC, Droided Media Tank, DroidMPD |
