A-110, No HDMI output. Lightning symbol on front is red.
Hi everyone.
I had my a-110 for a while now serving me perfect with the internal HDD. A Western Digital 1,5TB. I started out with the popcorn hour crashing and the picture would go away. Reset and everything worked fine for a while. The couple of days later the same problem occur. And now more often. I disconnected the internal HDD and tried to run some mkv's from usb sticks with the same problem. Now a couple of weeks later of testing and reading the forum i dont now what to do. I did a recoveryon the a-110, using a jumper. As the manual: http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...p?tid=8193 It all worked fine in component. NO HDMI. Then updated to the latest firmware using USB following http://www.popcornhour.com/download/A110...-A110.html 01-17-101217-15-POP-403 FIRST then 01-17-110314-15-POP-403 Now everything worked for a day or 2. Then same crash. Did everything again and ran it on Component. Everything worked. BUT, when i press the tvmode button and 8 or 9 or any other HDMI output the popcorn hour freezes. And the light on the front looking like a flash turns RED. So tried to watch a film in Component mode from the internal HDD. Some Mkv 720p... Then when the movie started rolling i noticed that the Red flash symbol was there again even with the movie playing perfect. So both the red flash symbol and the yellow on button was lit. Whats the red flash symbol mean? More than that its normaly lit when the a-110 is in standby mode. My thought is that there is some problem with the graphics in some way. And that the "standby-flash-light" also alert some problem. Right now i dont use my a-110 because i dont have any HDMI. So please help me find a solution or confirm that the a-110 has some hardware malfunction and that i should buy something new. /Anton |

RE: A-110, No HDMI output. Lightning symbol on front is red.
Found the answer by emailing Popcorn Hours support.
The answer is: The red flash indicates that the CPU is not operating correctly. Unfortunately, it seems to be an hardware issue and you'll have to replace it. Thank you We like to take this chance to wish you a Happy New Year. By Popcorn Hour Support on December 29, 2011 11:50 PM Is this something i could do myself or by replace, you mean buy a new popcorn hour? Hi Anton, I am sorry but we no longer provide repair for the A-110 as it is already end of line and we have no more parts for it. Yes, you'll have to buy a new popcorn hour. Do check out our new A-300 which is a far more superior box than the A-110. Thank you Case closed |

Spooky. I've just had the same thing with an almost identical response from Popcorn Hour 'support.'
In the end I've gone for the A210, but this was only after thinking long and hard about giving my money to Syabas again. In the end it seems like a better option given the money I had to work with and the champs here on the forum who produce cool looking jukeboxes. If it wasn't for them I would definitely have gone for a competitor's product or, if I had the money to hand, would have gone for a full HTPC with an XBMC set-up. |

During last 3 years I experienced a lot of problems with video out signal and stability with this device. I'am IT professional about 18 years and should know little bit something about drivers, software and its development. After latest release of PCH A110 firmware and NMT upgrade I can easily say that I have never seen so non-professional work. My experience with "the support" is very similar as yours. I know at minimum 2 more folks around me who have the same experience with it. Many folks over the world are asking for solution of the issue mentioned here. No answers or solutions. So final decision has been made, I bought Evolve madia player as my brother did 3 years ago and he never experienced any significant issue. Simply never more "Popcorn". Good luck guys!!!! |
