advice before purchase

i am thinking of purchasing a Popcornhour C-300, but wanted to ask some questions first.

1st i all my tvshows ripped from DVD/BluRay to mkv's, can this payer automatically collect the meta data from the net like XBMC, or do i need a PC to do it ?
the reason i ask is i am a mac user and do not have access to windows OS, don't want to purchase windows 7 just to be-able to grab the beta data.

2nd can this player play all movies DVD/BluRay's from any region, i.e. is this multi-region / region free ?

hope some can answer these question for me

You dont need Windows for many of the Jukeboxes that use a PC. YAMJ/Eversion can be used on a MAC to setup YAMJ with a Flash skin.

However yes the player can do what you want:

1. The player can scrape all of the required information from the internet. It uses TVdb, renaming your files to follow the NMJ naming is the way to get it working:

2. No it's not multiregion. However on the C200 we found ways around that giving the player unlimited region changes, believe it is working on the C300. It's a userapp called Region Counter Clear and installed via the Community Software Installer (CSI). Read the C series BD/DVD region stuff here on the WIKI:

I want to elaborate a bit on what chris57 wrote.
The player can scrape the info, that's correct.
But chances are quite big you do need to adjust stuff in order for all the info to be correct.
So be prepared to do a lot of renaming (chris57 mentioned this already).
And be prepared to adjust details/art afterwards (adjusting / creating nfo files and artwork).

How much depends on the movies/files you have.
I just want to warn you that chances are pretty slim that you will get everything correct from the first time (if xbmc is already showing everything correctly, you might be in luck of course).

But I guess this is true no matter what you purchase.

Yep to give you the best chances of getting as many of your files scanned correctly into any Jukebox take a look at that Jukebox naming requirements.

There is one for YAMJ and one for NMJ. The NMJ one is in the NMJ Guides subfrum. The YAMJ one will be in one of the many setting up YAMJ threads in the forum YAMJ section.

YAMJ requires a PC whereas NMJv2 does not. NMJv2 is on the 300. Here's the naming guide:

NMJ will also use NFO files if they are present.
