RE: 3d popcorn help needed please
The A-100 will play half resolution Side By Side (SBS) or Top And Bottom (TAB). But you have to manually put the TV in 3D mode.

RE: 3d popcorn help needed please
Adding to that, there is currently 1 chip that plays full 3D, the Realtek 1186. However, the devices that have these are still struggling to get a stable firmware. Examples are the Xtreamer Prodigy and the IconBit XDS1003D.
The newer Popcorn Hours are capable of putting the TV in 3D mode, but they still only support the SBS and TAB formats.

RE: 3d popcorn help needed please
Please help me understand more clearly -

1) When SBS or TAB mkvs are played without 3D conversion by A100, what is the resolution of the picture displayed? For 720p movie mkvs, is it 720pX2?

2) After 3d conversion by TV/PJ, what will the resolution of picture displayed for a 720p 3d SBS/TAB mkv? 720p or anything lesser?

3) Why are people "waiting" so eagerly for "3D support" in NMT when 3D display can be easily achieved by playing SBS or TAB mkvs on player as old as A100?

4) While looking at projectors there seems to be 2 types of 3D capable projectors - a. 'Full HD 3D' and b. 'PC 3D Ready'. What exactly is difference between the two? Are both types compatible with A100?

Questions above may sound silly to you Smile but I really am confused! So please do reply!

RE: 3d popcorn help needed please
1) You will generally find only 1080p movies in 3D and mainly SBS. The resolution is 1920x1080 which contains both the left and right image, each being 960x1080.

2) The 960x1080 will be scaled to 1920x1080. The loss of detail happens when the original full-HD 3D movie is converted to SBS.

3) As mentioned, converting to SBS/TAB means you cut the resolution into half. And even though this still looks very good, we all want maximum quality, thus full HD 3D.

4) I never heard of this but googled it and found this:
Full HD 3D Projectors
A projector that is Full HD 3D compatible can use any of the 3D formats enabled in the HDMI 1.4 3D specification. These projectors are compatible with the 1080p 3D signal from a Blu-ray player, set-top box, or other HDMI 1.4 device.

PC 3D Ready Projectors
A projector that is PC 3D Ready can accept a 120Hz frame-sequential 3D signal from a computer via either NVIDIA's 3D Vision system or one of several educational software suites. These projectors are not compatible with the HDMI 1.4 3D specification used on 3D Blu-ray players and set-top boxes.

Ok. So this means those using 3d MKV rips will not really benefit from desired "full HD 3D" support in NMT. The reason being that 3d MKV rips will always be 1920x1080 SBS. Am I mistaken?

So this means that 'PC 3D Ready' projectors cannot be directly used with A100. Whereas latest 'Full HD 3D' can directly display 3d images from A-100 playing SBS/TAB or Frame Sequential MKV. Is my interpretation correct?

RE: 3d popcorn help needed please
The SBS ones you'll find on usenet are indeed not full HD 3D. You'll also find the full 3D Blu rays, but the PCH can't play those. Some say it's possible to make a MKV3D with full resolution and that the PCH can play this, but I haven't been able to verify that. The one example I was pointed to did play, but was scaled down by the PCH.
Regarding the PC 3D Ready, it reads to me like this will indeed not work on a PCH.

Name yer movie files like moviename.3DSBS.mkv and that 3DSBS in title will tell the popcorn to trip the 3D function on the tv.

RE: 3d popcorn-c200 subtitles
Hi,
I am new in 3d and i can't managed to watch subtiltes from my popcorn-c200 when i watch an mkv movie. I watch them half right and half left. I have tried the 3D-Subtitler 2.7.1.0 to make the VobSub idx/sub files but the result was the same. I also tried to remove the .srt and i could even see the half right - half left subtitles. I have my C-200 updated. Can you help me?
