Hi all,

we released at https://developer.popbox.com/c/devuser/home a new App Template for Developers, if you register you will get access to it.

Quote:What you can achieve with App Template?
The app template will produce a simple app that allow users to browse video or audio content of several categories in RSS format.
You can decide which categories to have in the app by modifying the content in menu RSS.

Functionality:
1. Browse contents of a category
2. Play video / audio provided by the contents
3. Allow switching language used in the application
Constraints:
1. DO NOT support pagination (*1) in categories contents.
2. DO NOT support sub categories.
3. DO NOT support photo playback.
4. Fixed control flow, where Menu is located on the left of Main Browsing Pane.


*1 : Pagination refers to mechanism of loading different data chunk from server according to user
navigation. In other word, application will load page 2 data only when user navigates to page 2.

Yes, also remember that the 200 will get the 300UI/NMJv2 so they will get more similar in the long run.

I took a closer look at this and there is no player restriction except the 100s can't run it. It looks very straight forward so you use a bunch of xml files to make the "skin/app" and you can use your own provided xml feeds (rss) or point to any rss feed (or many of them) on the internet for the data also..

If anyone has any type of custom menu with links to things, or you used to make a webservice, this system is perfect for you. You don't need to know flash. To make it really simple to understand, it's a lot like everion and it's eskins but your making a whole app. It has support for music and photos also.

The flash app that runs the templates comes with it so the phf file they give you plus a bunch of xml files and images you provide and viola, you just made your own app. You can even send it up to get added to the app market and syabas deals with people getting and installing it

Yes, you can create a flash app with your own images. However, the app plainly is just to:
(1) read list of video / audio links and its related information
(2) play the video / audio in the list

If you want to perform anything outside of the two stated above, I think app template is not your choice.

I am sorry but I don't understand your question here.
NMTServer is something that runs on your PC, while app template (or apps made using app template) runs on PCH devices.

I was wondering if you could create an app, that connects to a PC ip address then streams data to the A300?

I have done this using the sample app from some time ago. Essentialy, you need to load XML from URL, where the URL is a CGI script. You need to pay attention that this is asynch call and to have the proper call back set to intercept the event of XML load end. The CGI should return XML, even if it is just one tag.

The URL I have used was similiar to this:

I am looking a way to get "the big picture" from boston.com RSS feed on the popcorns. I just saw that app on the XBMC and thought it's cool thing: amazing pictures of actual happening around the world.

RTMP in App Template fails

Only recently I add an app based on the app template.

However, the RTMP handling doesn't seem to work properly.

Install the GemistvoorNMT app, goto the left menu and select 'Ered.Live/Sport1'. After that, in the list, select a program from EredivisieLive.

The stream starts, shows some frames without audio, then the screen goes black and to program continues but with only audio.

My guess is that that this is a problem in the player.swf that is supplied with the App Template.
