How to setup Usenet on Popcorn Hour A210
Hello,

Can somebody please help me how to setup my Popcorn Hour A210 for Usenet usage? Even with the manual I can't figure it out.

I did start de Usenet Client in the NMT Applications menu but the next step is to find in the Root the file nzbget.conf. Well to be honest i don't know how to get into the Root where I can find this file. Is it on the pc or on the Popcorn? On my PC I see the following maps:

- Download;
- Lost + found;
- Movies;
- Music;
- nmj_database;
- Photo;
- Video.

Am I doing something wrong or im missing a step? Thanks in advance for your reaction.

RE: How to setup Usenet on Popcorn Hour A210
Easiest way to find something is to use a FTP client like Filezilla on your PC and turn ON the NMT Apps server FTP.

then you will see all of the files/folders in each location. The folder starts with a '.' which is why you cannot see it if you do not display hidden files/folders on your PC.

Look for the .nzbget folder and inside it you will find the nzbget.conf file. Then use notepad++ (unix editor) on the conf file entering your usenet server details etc.

Here from the user manual:

14.5.1 Setting up NZBGET

In the root of your hard disk you will find a folder called .nzbget. Inside this folder you will find two
files: nzbget.conf and unpak.sh.

IMPORTANT: Some FTP clients may hide this folder because it begins with a dot. On UNIX systems,
files or folders that begin with a dot are hidden from normal directory listings. If you cannot see the
folder, find an option on your client that will show hidden files or try to type in the folder name.

You can open and edit nzbget.conf with a UNIX format capable text editor.
In the text editor, fill in the information you got from your Usenet provider:
# Host-name of news server:
server1.host=news.yourserver.com (Put the server name behind the = )
# Port to connect to (default should be set to 119 if not specified):
server1.port=119
# Username to use for authentication (change USERNAME to the name supplied by your Usenet
provider):
server1.username=USERNAME
# Password to use for authentication (change PASSWORD to the password supplied by your
Usenet provider):
server1.password=PASSWORD
# Maximum number of simultaneous connections to this server:
server1.connections=4
Once completed, save the file to the same place and restart the Usenet service in the NMT Applications
menu (Setup > NMT Applications).

After access via your PC and the url at page 74 in user manual: http://IPof300:8066

You can allways configure NZB using the web interface. No need to mess with FTP or file networking.

Remember you need to reboot after any changes for them to take effect.

It's actually enough to do a "Shutdown" through the NZBGet web interface, and then "Start" it again in order to make the changes to the config file take effect.

RE: How to setup Usenet on Popcorn Hour A210
Hello,

I have another question related to the setup of the Usenet client (on a PCH C-300)...
I would like to download movies from my PCH in a kind of "batch mode" ,without using the 35 GB volume reserved for high-speed file transfers. I prefer using this for more interactive sessions.

Is it possible to force downloads, from my PCH, in "eco mode" ?

As a matter of fact, any file transfer from my PCH is considered by Usenet as "power mode" FT, even if I have limited the "max download rate" to 100 kbps...

Many thanks in advance for your feedback !!

RE: How to setup Usenet on Popcorn Hour A210
Hello, i understand from your message that your usenet acces provider is usenet.nl, correct ?
If so, I have the same issue as you do. Have you found a solution to this ?
I've was given 2 servers adresses from the usenet.nl customer service, may the second adress be for slow speed download ? I am just waiting for my current downloads to finish to give it a try...
Please, let me know if you've sorted this out.
Thanks

Taking this opportunity to state that despite many negative comments over the net, I am quite happy with usenet.nl...first account to usenet so cannot compare download speed but they have a great customer service who replied to my email within 1 hour on a sunday ! would like to see that from many other companies in all business areas !

Hello, it actually does not make any difference to download from the second server either...
I have sent an email to the usenet.nl customer service to raise the question. Let's wait and see what they come back with.

RE: How to setup Usenet on Popcorn Hour A210
OK, have received answer from the customer service but was not good enough.
So I called them in. Had on line a very nice people but who told that unfortunately it is not possible to choose between Power and Eco mode if we use another newsreader than the reader provided by usenet.nl Sad
I am sending out an SOS for all those who have a usenet.nl account : did you figured out how download in Eco Mode ?
