C-200 Unable to Access Network Shares
I have a PCH C-200, and for probably the 6th time in the 2.5 years I've had it, I am completely unable to see my network shares. I have a ReadyNAS that is sharing volumes over AFP, CIFS and NFS, and up until last Sunday I was able to browse and stream fine. Last Sunday night, I turned on the PCH and my shares were unaccessible. I have throughout the last week:
- reset to defaults - attempted both dhcp and static ip configurations - manually added shares and attempted to browse for shares to no avail. This is maddening. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this? (I am running the latest firmware) Thank you. |

RE: C-200 Unable to Access Network Shares
master browser issue. Whatever computer in your network is not sending out the list of shares on your network. Easy solution is shut down every machine on your network even ones you dont stream to or from, then turn on your readynas first let it fully boot then turn on any desktop machine you keep on 24/7 then boot everything else one by one wait 15 minutes and you should have a list of your network again.
If all else fails you can manually add the shares using the ip address of your readynas and not using browse. |

RE: C-200 Unable to Access Network Shares
alternatively, don't use machine names for shares. use static ips on the devices or reserved dhcp addresses and use the ip for the device. You'll also find a slight speedup because when the pch is busy, a dns lookup is not a subsecond pause.

RE: C-200 Unable to Access Network Shares
I now seem to be having deeper networking issues. I can both assign a static IP and receive a DHCP address, but no outbound connections are succeeding from the C-200. I can telnet to the machine, although I do not get a command prompt. Attempting to browse Apps, Shoutcast, MSP, etc.. just results in the spinning dialog. I see the NFS share of my Readynas' IP in Network Browser, but selecting it just shows 'No Content Found On Server'. I have tried to reset to defaults numerous times. My networking appears to be completely hosed.

RE: C-200 Unable to Access Network Shares
Hi, unfortunately I experiment the same issue since 2 days. Suddenly (after more than 2 years of a very well service) my C200 doesn't access my NAS (Thecus N5500) in the 'Network' sources. It seems even slower to discover the connected hosts under the 'Network' source. But If it still ok for the PCs, it displays my entry 'NAS' and after says that "your server is not responding, pleas ckeck it" (I translate from the original French message).
Despite my NAS is still accessible from the newtork by any connected PC. Despite no change in the Popcorn's settings nor on the NAS. Nothing has been changed. Like you, latest firmware was already active. Strange sudden behaviour ! Of course, I have tried also a full stop/start of the components... same result. RE: C-200 Unable to Access Network Shares
I've seen somethign similar a very long time ago when a major provider moved their dns servers.. if your using a static ip with dns pointed at your provider it could be this. Ever since that happened to me and took days to figure out what happened I have never used a static ip again and always go for dhcp with reserved addresses (leased or static assignments as it's called in some routers)..
