which one to buy A300 or C300
i have never owned a PCH but thinking of diving in,do i go for A300 it is a lot cheaper to start with, because if i do not like it,it is less to outlay, basicly the same operating system so if i like can allways upgrade,or should i go straight for the C300

RE: which one to buy A300 or C300
if you dont need physical bluray player which fits in C-300 I would go with A-300, its basicly the same player other than chassi slots.

RE: which one to buy A300 or C300
The A300 is 99% of the way there in terms of features of the larger C300.
The C300 is the size of a full-width HiFi unit at 19inches. the A300 is around a quarter of the size of the C300. The C300 has RF remote, full colour TFT screen on the front, and a Bluray license. It also has the space for additional HDD's and/or a rOM drive. If you have no need of disc playback, a RF remote as opposed to a IR remote, music playback without your TV so use front colour screen, or extra HDD space then the A300 will do what you require. RE: which one to buy A300 or C300
With the stock setup, you could install two internal hard drives (one 3.5" in the tray and one 2.5" in the dedicated mount).
You could mod the case to fit two 3.5" or even three (utilizing the internal USB port). Of course, you can add several external hard drives as well through the USB ports. Personally, as a C-200 owner with my files stored on a NAS, I wouldn't by a C-series unit again. C-200 + WD Scorpio Blue 500GB Seek first to understand, then to be understood. |

RE: which one to buy A300 or C300
I'll assume you're talking about two 2TB 3.5" drives since I don't know of any 2TB 2.5" hard drives on the market.
Installing two 3.5" hard drives internally is going to require some modding. Check out the C-200 modding section on the Wiki; you should be able to do the same mods on the C-300. http://www.networkedmediatank.com/wiki/i...PSU_Repair C-200 + WD Scorpio Blue 500GB Seek first to understand, then to be understood. |

RE: which one to buy A300 or C300
Will the A-300 playback unprotected bluray iso's (anydvd rips) streamed over a network with full menu support?
Currently watch most blurays this way with my C-200 but I have no need for a hdd or bluray drive so A-300 would clear up some extra rack space

RE: which one to buy A300 or C300
Only the C series has a Bluray license and will playback both encrypted and unencrypted BD backups with the original menus.
Occasionally the A series can play the original menu but you'll not get BDLive or other options that require a Bluray license to work to function. Its not guarantee which some early adopters got into their heads it was a right. You will get movie playback of unencrypted bluray backups and have the pop-up PCH menu to choose audio , subtitle tracks or chapters/scenes. The C series has extra space on the local apps drive location for storage of bluray bookmarks and things like BDLive downloads that the A series does not. It may be suitable for a 2TB drive in the C300, if it is how to do
