Error. setting could not be saved (network)

Trying to set up my c-300 with the setup wizard. step 1) language is good, 2) network connection i choose wired ( continue to step 04) (Ethernet cable) which is plugged in. then obtain an ip address automatically, I get an ip and subnet mask number but no gateway. I click next and get error. setting could not be saved. I have a 1 tb hard drive in. I cant get past that step, what am i doing wrong? I update my firmware and tried different Ethernet cables. Any help.

is your dhcp server sending a gateway? do a manual ip and try it.
