{A110} Nzbget causes NMT to freeze...
Hi
Was wondering if this has happened to anyone else.. I've recently updated my home broadband to fibre (speeds now upto 40mbit), I changed the settings on my PCH A110 for the new wired connection (pretty much auto everything) and it connects fine. The first issues I've had is with downloading via nzbget. I noticed that it maxes out at 1000kb/s which is still 300 more than I was getting. But it now seems to just crash after a few seconds and I lose the network connection. The only way to get it back is to turn on and off the box. It took about 20 turn off and ons to get 1 mkv file to download. I was wondering whether the speed is now too much and making the PCHA110 shutdown? I've given it a good clean inside and there's no dust collection and it doesn't seem to be overheating. I know this is definitely an NZB download problem as soon as it stopped downloading the unpak took around 5 minutes for a 4gb movie and worked fine. So in a nutshell - if I can't now get it to download directly onto the PCH - what are my alternatives? I like storing my movies on the inbuilt HD. I do have some space on my W7 PC, but not sure how good mkv files will play over the network. Any help appreciated... I've had the PCHA110 for a good few years now, but it's showing its age and am thinking of upgrading to a popbox or boxee and getting a Buffalo NAS for storage. |

RE: {A110} Nzbget causes NMT to freeze...
The 100 series only has a 333Mhz cpu, imagine a PC with a cpu that slow trying to downlo0ad usenet files at 1000kb/s!!!
If you want to download at anything more than 2,500kb/s then a PC is for you. A 300 can do around those speeds but it can also affect HDD access times and thereby playback. Personally I stick to a limit of 800kb/s on my NMT usenet downloads. The 200 series unrars around three times quicker than the 100 series. The 300 series around 2 times quicker than the 200 series. A Popbox or Boxxee are downgrades from the 100 series. Buffalo also produce poor quality products. Pick good products that althugh they may cost a little more provide better value for money in the long run through support and quality. For NAS devices I can see no further than Synology these days. The 300 is the best media player out there for value for money. A400: SSD+SD Card(Apps), HDMI A300: USB(Apps), HDMI C200: USB(Apps), BD SH-B083L(SB01), HDMI CAT6 Wired Network: TV TX-P42G20, HP ProCurve 1400-8G, Netgear GS-608/605, Synology CS407 |
