Serious scanning problems
I am having serious problems with scanning. Currently, a lot of movies are being correctly recognized, and given the right title and information, but the poster is incorrect. It seemed to have a preference for 500 Days of Summer, but as more and more posters went wrong, i uninstalled and reinstalled. Now the preferred poster is for the film "11:14". Half of the movie wall will show this poster on some pages. I'm using the latest CSI zip for the install, R2362.

I have no idea why this is happening, but I suspect from the lack of mentions from anyone else, that it is unique to me.

Anyone got any suggestions?

RE: Serious scanning problems
You'll need to provide logs to allow this to be checked. Not sure if it's GUI or scan issues so you might want to send both.
Info is here. http://code.google.com/p/oversight/wiki/...LogReports

RE: Serious scanning problems
All of the scraping sources are fine. It's being happening over several weeks and a few releases of OVS, but only with the rescan has the extent of the problem become clear. I think it might be a problem with one USB drive. I am in the process of rescanning drive by drive, and the problem has so far only arisen on one of them.

I'm away for the weekend, so I'm going to unplug everything (it's very hot here at the moment, and could be given some trouble with the drives as well). When I get back, I'll finish the scans and see what's what.

RE: Serious scanning problems
FYI. in the end did a deep clean via CSI and then reinstalled, and now seems fine. Must have been some corruption.

RE: Serious scanning problems
OK, for further information and the benefit of any who suffer this problem.

After the "deep clean", I started to have the same problem. But as it seemed to be the same films which were getting the wrong posters, I thought again. So stopped the scan, ticked the "Overwrite posters" box, and restarted. This now seems to work and has disposed of the (500) Days of Summer poster. So something was still being held in a cache, despite the deep clean.

Still no real idea what caused it in the first place.

RE: Serious scanning problems
I really have fixed it now. For the information of anyone else who ever suffers the symptoms of one or two posters being incorrectly used for a large number of films:-

Look through your media files for "poster.jpg". Delete. Carry on with your life.

I have only suspicions about how this file appeared in a couple of my media folders. I suspect my messing about with a variety of other, PC based, media centre systems lead to this. I certainly did not put them there on purpose. I use a genre based hierarchy, so that a folder called Film/SF would contain a number of films on a science fiction theme. If OverSight cannot find an image, I put one in the folder, named the same as the video file itself.

But many other MCs use a folder for each film, and store the images as poster.jpg within that folder. Still, I had not realized that Oversight would use such a file in preference to the wanted ones. And of course, one anomaly in a list of hundreds of files only becomes obvious when you are actually looking for it.
