faulty popcorn or faulty user?
hello - so after I got perhaps ten DVDs loaded (DVDShrunk/DVDFab) and playing just fine, I went to add another hundred or so (about 2 days and nights of Samba) and now nothing plays. Even my original untouched folders with DVDs no longer play.
As usual, I just get the black screen and popcorn loading and then back to the folder structure. It doesn't matter whether I press the select or the play button. So is this me? Can anyone give me a clue here? Should I just package it up and send it back? The good news is that I loaded a bunch of photos and they look great. But I really wanted it for the DVDs. Is this intermittent behaviour normal? Should I wait for a new patch? Any clues appreciated

RE: faulty popcorn or faulty user?
There are many things it can be but the chances of the PCH playing photo's and not playing DVD's due to a hardware problem asre very small.
How are you playing the files? Do you have a videojukebox setup? A400: SSD+SD Card(Apps), HDMI A300: USB(Apps), HDMI C200: USB(Apps), BD SH-B083L(SB01), HDMI CAT6 Wired Network: TV TX-P42G20, HP ProCurve 1400-8G, Netgear GS-608/605, Synology CS407 |

Maybe you already know this, but just in case you don't: When a file doesn't play (in the way you describe), try to reboot the player, and then leave that particular file alone for the time being. After the reboot, try other files. Sometimes the buffer is overloaded when it tries to handle an unsupported or corrupt file, and the only way to clear the buffer is to reboot the player. This means that it could be just one or a small number of files, that actually do not play for real. The subsequent non-playing files you are experiencing could be due to the buffer overload problem. Quote:The subsequent non-playing files you are experiencing could be due to the buffer overload problem. chris57 - thank you for your workaround - I am back in business! (I rebooted). I am wondering, as this is a big usability thing, do you think that the folks at Popcorn Hour are going to fix this problem or at least let me (the user) know when I am running into file compatibility or buffer problems? It seems such a basic thing the software should catch! BTW - pressing the middle select buton or the Play button - which is correct for playing a DVD which is a bunch of vob ifo ts files in \audio_ts and \VIDEO_TS folders? Thanks again chris57 for your advice! cheers

RE: faulty popcorn or faulty user?
It was actually cheaper popcorn but that issue should have been improved with the latest firmware are you running the new firmware?
Its enter on ISO play with Video_ts. I would recommend making an ISO from your video_ts folders:- http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...p?tid=6455 A400: SSD+SD Card(Apps), HDMI A300: USB(Apps), HDMI C200: USB(Apps), BD SH-B083L(SB01), HDMI CAT6 Wired Network: TV TX-P42G20, HP ProCurve 1400-8G, Netgear GS-608/605, Synology CS407 |
