A110 and a Showcenter200 advice sought

I will hopefully be in possession of my PH A110 soon, and intend to move my existing showcenter into the bedroom.

question is, I am currently using simese and swisscenter as webserver and interface, would i still be able to use this for both devices together or is there something better available, and is it possible to do this without too many problems.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

you will be able to use both device with a web based interface like swisscenter, there should be no problem with that. PCH can connect to samba and nfs shares as well, you can use that, but speed is fine over http as well. Accessing dvd images (iso files) is not supported by most of the http based shares - the new version of llink can do it and has support for rar files as well, but the usability is not comparable to the iso handling over samba, nfs or internal hdd - but as the showcenter was not playing any iso's, this should not matter...
A further interesting issue could be for you, serving your showcenter directly from your PCH (if you don't have a NAS or dedicated server for streaming). PCH can run most of the http based services or act as an upnp av server...
Also using some jukebox software (like moviejukebox) is a much better way of accessing your movies, than swisscenter, but it is true that swisscenter is still much better than the basic userinterface of the PCH...

Good luck with your new unit :-) To be honest, I sold my showcenter after two monthes I received my PCH...

Tonya, many thanks for the reply.

I didn't even think about using the PH to serve the showcenter, that would be ideal as i would not be streaming HD to it as it would be going over a homeplug network, and the other tv is not up to it anyway, but it would keep the kids quiet.
I always intended to install an internal HD on th PCH, and also use the USB if required as an overflow, (I currently stream to the SC from an external USB drive on my main PC).
So If i did this, could i then in effect, run it all totally independent of my PC ?

Hi Hythers,
That is just the way I use my Showcenter. Turn UPNP on at the Pch. The Showcenter finds it. I have the latest (last?) firmware on the Showcenter and the formats that the showcenter can play stay very limited compared to the Pch..
That way you do not need a PC powered on.
