Copy from USB HDD > Internal HDD = Alert?
Hi, I have an PH A-100, a USB external HDD and a Seagate Barracuda 500 gig internal HDD.

All seem to work fine, but now I want to copy my movies from my USB drive to the internal drive...so I press file mode and choose copy items or list items (something like that) and then in the internal HDD menu I choose file mode again and choose copy listed items...but it immediatly says: "Alert!!! System fault".

What am I doing wrong?

Maybe I should just unplug the internal hdd and insert it in my computer and copy it via the computer? Anyone else experienced this problem?

Have you formatted the internal HDD with the PCH and installed the NMT apps? Or have you just dropped a HDD inside with files you already had loaded on to it beforehand?

You cannot put the drive straight into a PC you need drivers if its a windows PC:-

If you have a PC have you connected via SMB, as you can do all you want through a network.

RE: Copy from USB HDD > Internal HDD = Alert?
I did do the nmt setup wizard, all is working fine, I think it's a HFS --> Internal HDD problem. I didn't decide to wait and placed the HDD in the PC yesterday and copied the files that way, I found that exact same tutorial too, very essential.

I also have a suggestion. There are numerous things every user has to do to setup the popcorn hour, wouldn't it be an idea to bundle all these "tutorials" (more like essential things you need to know) and put these in a printed guide together with the PH itself? The info is now scattered all over the place and people really need to search their ass of to find everything.

Yes - indeed. That would be very welcome. Even if the information has to be changed often because of firmware changes, it is still a very essential part lacking.

The best compiled resource at the moment is the Wiki, I would recommend all readers to print a physical copy and check it for solutions before asking or searching elsewhere.

Syabas have stated they are aware of this problem, but I am not sure if they are actively creating printed support material or not at this stage, and if they are not, when they expect to do so.

All guides should be available in the FAQ section and/or the WIKI. Those two areas are essential reading for ALL NMT owners.

Some that are written by others, such as the one above are not due to permissions etc. and therefore I post a link to those.

If there was a document printed today it would be out of date by next week. Until the NMT platform settles I cannot see anything of any volume being printed.

When you look at all of the available apps (usenet, torrents (transmission/bptd), FTP, Myihome lite, SMB, etc), streamers, videojukeboxes, plugins, themes, the printed material could run into quite some length.

Fairly sure high jack would have no issue with you linking from the wiki though Wink

RE: Copy from USB HDD > Internal HDD = Alert?
I know the information is out there, but believe me; for a normal guy (not a power user) it is quite a challenge to gather the right information. Say I got a default PH with a harddisk...there is no information available on how to take it from there step by step (installing the hardware, going to setup - maintenance - setup nmt wizard), even though these are things almost everyone has to do. My friend for instance thought he had 2 broken harddisks because he didn't know what to do after plugging them in the PH.

With all the excellent and fast support you guys give here (nothing but kudo's for that!), it shouldn't be hard to write up a 'dummies' tutorial to get the people started right?
