RE: Control4...
I suppose, but from what I can tell there's no way to run telnet from within a driver on the Control4 side. What I guess we need is a piece of software or a service that runs in the firmware on the NMT, that can translate HTTP commands to a telnet command, or something else that the PCH can understand. Similar to the Adobe Air remote control app, but my understanding is that those use telnet as well since they reside on a Windows box, it's like a "gui" for telnet commands. Or put an RS232 connector on the thing.

RE: Control4...
The iphone control webapp (also by Niels Leenheeer) uses PHP/http to send the commands.

RE: Control4...
Given the wealth of information available in the wiki, I really don't see anything else you really need to ask for. Anyone with basic cgi programming knowledge should be able to hack together a fully functional remote control application for your purposes, and you'd be able to install the whole thing onto a tiny little CF card that you could bulk-copy and drop into the pch on-site. This should not qualify as a modification to the unit and should not affect the warranty on the unit.

As I don't have all the reference material for the control4 interface, nor the hardware itself, I'm not volunteering, but it should not be difficult in the slightest.

Basically, you should be able to plug in the unit and run a script from the pch menus (running from the cf) to select your server and the most basic of settings and have it autoconfigure and even announce itself (assuming your control4 system supports this type of thing).

If you wish for Syabas/Popcorn hour to do the work for you, the rule of thumb is to give them a specific incentive to do so. A nebulous promise of lots of additional units sold isn't business. An offer of sole distribution rights is a good start. Remember, this is a new feature you want implemented, and they already have a full list of additional features that they know there is a market for.
You may also wish to contact your area's existing popcorn hour dealers to see if they'd like to work with you on the middleware and supply chain.

Just a few ideas for you, from one businessman to another Wink
