Play DVD on PCH
Hello,

In what state DVD should be that it would be possible to play on PCH?
Now I have downloaded DVD Movie from torrent and it has folder VIDEO_TS and DVD files in it BUP, VOB, IFO. Unfortunately PCH do not play it as normal DVD, I can play these DVD files by clicking on them but how to execute DVD playback with menu as usual.

regards,
Tomas
While reading wiki I found that I need to create ISO and put these DVD files to be able play them on PCH, right?
Can I play DVD ISO files streaming them from streaming service like "TwonkyMedia"?

RE: Play DVD on PCH
The PCH will play it as intended, but from the symptoms you describe, you are probably trying to play it via Myihome or another HTTP streaming server. This will not work (although the HTTP streaming server llink apparently has better support of DVD than MyIhome - I am not clear on the exact differences though).

For best results anyway, you can create a folder for DVDs and share that folder in Windows. Then browse to the share from your PCH and press play when the DVD is highlighted, and it should play. Depending on your network setup, you may have to mount the SMB share in your NMT. The path should be: smb://[IP ADDRESS OR NETWORK NAME OF YOUR COMPUTER OR NAS]/ [foldername]

No brackets though, so here's a more illustrative example, say your folder is in C:\Movies\DVD files and your PCs IP address is 192.168.1.6 and the network name of your PC is TOMAS

smb://192.168.1.6/DVD files

OR

smb://TOMAS/DVD files

Add username and password below if required.

In the current firmware though, there are problems with playback of DVD folder structures (causes stuttering) so until the next firmware is released, I would recommend you to make an ISO file from the DVD folder structure, and then share that via SMB.

This will play.

RE: Play DVD on PCH
You are right, I have tried to play DVD from TwonkyMedia streaming server.
I have tried as you suggested to play DVD brosing it using Network Navigation in PCH, it start play DVD while I visit DVD folder it seems good, but
after several minutes of DVD play the video start "stuttering", so knowing issue as I see.
Does this happens with DVD ISO too?
I have also noticed that it is not possible to play HD video using Network shares(gigabyte network) with PCH, video starts ""stuttering", I am able to play them only using streaming server. Is this knowing issue?

RE: Play DVD on PCH
DVD video_ts folder playback currently stutters at points. DVD ISO playback doesnt stutter.
Beta firmware has both video_ts and DVD ISO playback without any stutter.
So whilst you await the next stable firmware create ISO for any video_ts folders that you wish to view.

HD playback is a different process entirely. Playback depends on the source and the method of play.
The WIKI has the current max rated achieveable:-
http://networkedmediatank.com/wiki/index...methods.3F
You will see that SMB shares peak at 34-38mb/s whereas http, HDD or USB peak at 42mb/s. NFS at 33mb/s is the slowest now and SMB should be used in preference.
There are further issues with jumbo frames if you have them enabled turn them off, and also gigabit netwokrs themselves can cause stutter so if you have a 100/10 switch lying around put it between the router and the PCH.
