RE: [A110] Tutorial for fan installation
i have the same problem, to much heat so the movie begins to stutter at some point. I have made a test setup today with a piece of triplex and an little fan from a Pentium III 450 mhz slot 1 processor wich i still had, it originaly runs on 12 Volt, but it works at low speed on the 5 Volt setting.
Now i'm going to find me a piece of aluminium to make a nice clean new top for my A-110. I will post pics when i'm ready. Popcorn Hour A-110 + C-300, Yamaha RX-V661, LG 42LM620S, ELAC Dipol 5.1 set The inability to build an proper NMT should not be disguised as a fault in the setup. |

RE: [A110] Tutorial for fan installation
My PCH was to hot too... I couldn't put my hand on heat sink, and the internal HD crash one time... thus i decide to put some fans.
I bought "2 Silent Eagle 1000 (80x80x25 mm)". It's very very quite (the only noise is when the internal HD works) and the heat sink is now really cold :-) |

You should not be able to put your hand on any heat sink if the heat sink is hot its doing its job. Thats like saying you stuck your hand on a stove and got burnt. |

RE: [A110] Tutorial for fan installation
Ive put 4 washers under the 'lid' so there is a slight gap for the heat to escape. Its cooler than what it was.

RE: [A110] Tutorial for fan installation
Here is my contribution to cooling "madness". I had problems running HD contents and freezing PCH-A110.
![]() Thermaltake Silent Wheel 130mm, normally running on 12V with 1400rpm and 20dB, but my is running on 5V, needs extra push to begin rotating, but is silent. Even from 50cm. No idea what the number of rpm is. The heatsink and HDD are cold. No problems with freezing anymore. Maybe it is not nice in everybodies eyes, but my PCH is not on displays (except now!) |

RE: [A110] Tutorial for fan installation
I've just bought:
Papst fan, 252N - 25x25x8, 3 m³/hour, 15 dB ( A ) Considering I have pretty much no experience with electricity and jumpers, I'd appreciate it if someone could help me out letting me know how make sure I don't fry anything. The nominal voltage for the fan says 12V, so if that's the case, do I place the jumper on 5V and the other one so that 12V is the only pin left without a jumper on it? |

RE: [A110] Tutorial for fan installation
Hi, here is my contribution :
![]() I've "re-used" the optional fan of my old Zalman ZM-80C-HP. It was designed to be used with 5V or 12V, so there's no problem to start at 5V. For now, and after 1 hour in idle mode, here's my WD10EADS' temp : Code: 194 Temperature_Celsius 0x0022 121 099 000 Old_age Always - 29 |
