A/B Series Compatibility

  • The A100 uses an IDE interface. The A110 a SATA interface. They are NOT interchangeable.
  • If you have problems with your HDD in your NMT always ensure that you try the HDD after formatting it to NTFS in a PC. This will ensure that the HDD is initialised as some brand new HDD's are not and the NMT cannot format a none initialised HDD. Do NOT choose the Quick Format option as this may mean that the HDD is not recognised and the NMT Setup option is not available to install the NMT Apps, always use the Full Format option or alternatively use Roadkil's Diskwipe to format a HDD for use in your NMT.
  • This is a list of user reports on internal hard disk / hard drive / HDD compatibility with the NMT units. Note that a firmware version, or issues with the HDD itself, may also affect capabilities.
  • The general recommendation, for HDD drives, is to choose drives marketed with terms such as "low rpm" , "low noise", "low power consumption", "Eco-Friendly" and "Green", rather than ones sold for performance (which will usually have higher noise levels). These low power drives often have a rpm of around 5400, rather than the current consumer "standard" of 7200. Despite the lower rpm, they will have more than enough performance to satisfy all typical NMT usage demands. Alternatively they may be marketed as for 'Video Surveillance/CCTV' systems.

Samsung SP2504C 250GB 8MB SATA 3,5" MIXED I tried to install Samsung SP2504C and format both in the ext / 3 and ext / 2 with the latest firmware on a USB root. Formatting finished after a few attempts and NMT programs installs on this disk. Problems starts when you use the disk w. Samba (smb: / / ip / share), then the disk shuts down by it self after 4-10 minutes. I would not recommend this disk to be used in A-110. I tried this disk as well in 1,5Gbps transfer mode with the same result(s).
