Syabas are the makers of the Networked Media Tank (NMT) middleware used in OEM products such as the Popcorn Hour and other NMT powered products.

NMT

NMT is an abbreviation, short for Networked Media Tank. This is a common term used for all units that run on the Networked Media Tank media platform solution made by Syabas.

Syabas' Popcorn Hour A-100 was the first NMT product, but was followed soon by other devices, each adding its own particular features. The common denominator of all of them is the use of Syabas' middleware, also named NMT.

From a practical perspective, this means that the firmware updates concerning the base functionality are first available for Popcornhour, while the other devices need some additional time (days to weeks) to incorporate the changes in their own firmware, due to differing hardware configurations. All companies selling NMT products have their firmware updates done by Syabas.
